Football Governance Bill

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Football Governance Bill

Postby Bluemoon4610 » Tue Jul 08, 2025 7:08 pm

Has been passed by The Commons.
Football Governance Bill set to become law - https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/arti ... 2gd25ydzwo

Is this Independent Body a good thing? Or just another body for the Cartel to infest with their sycophants?

Let’s call this what it really is - it’s a thinly veiled hit job on modern, well-run clubs like City. They’ve tried FFP, they’ve tried doing it through the media and now they are going to try and do it through the arseholes on government.

I'm not so sure. The Premier League and it's members have been quite vocal about their objections to a government regulator, and the government are very keen on the idea of inward investment from places such as the UAE.

Let’s be honest - if Abu Dhabi had bought the Munchens or the dippers , we wouldn’t be having this conversation. But because it’s Manchester City, and because we didn’t beg for scraps at the Sky Six dinner table, now they want to “regulate.” Pmsl !!!
It certainly won’t make things fairer. It’ll just add another layer of politically-driven bullshit dressed up as governance.

City have been the loudest at championing this. Khaldoon even mentioned it in one of his interviews. Were pushing for this so that we get treated fairly and the cartel lose their control

Wasnt the 115 charges rushed out the day after the independent regulator was announced by the last government.... Desperate last ditch attempt by them before they lost their power and control

While ultimately there will always be vested interests, I believe an independent regulator will bring more scrutiny to the table, and prevent entities like the Premier League operating as a private members club sailing very close to (if not beyond) the law.

It wouldn't surprise me if City are behind this whole thing

When we challenged that rule last year and the Prem still cracked on and said they'd won, even though they hadn't - I'm hoping an independent regulator will sort that shit straight away.

There will always be a regulator , independent or otherwise , who will be influenced into a decision....call that corruption or bowing down to public opinion.
We should insist on the following :

Transparency — No more secret charges or selective leaks. Investigations must be public, professional, and honest.
Truly Independent Appointments — No FA insiders, no ex-UEFA execs, no media darlings from rival clubs. Clean hands, clean process.
Independent Right to Appeal — Clubs must be able to challenge bad decisions in proper courts or arbitration panels — not be judged by the regulator itself.
Clear Financial Rules — No vague language like “fair market value” to punish clubs selectively. All clubs, big or small, must play by the same book.
Media Accountability — The regulator should publish all briefings and avoid feeding the press anonymous info to stir agendas.
Fan Oversight — Fans from all clubs, including ours, must sit on review panels to monitor decisions and ensure no club is scapegoated.
Parliamentary Review — Every few years, the regulator’s powers must be audited and approved by MPs. No unchecked authority.
