Interesting article about the change from Ederson to Donnarumma. Also dispels the myth about Ederson being a poor shot stopper and says Donna ain't that bad with his feet (but obviously not as good as Ed).

Up to the start of last season, no-one could touch Ed passing out from the back, he was the king. Once his head was turned by Saudi, his form suffered and he was not the same. Not helped by the shit-show that was our non-defence and midfield last term. I never rated him as a shot-stopper but to be fair, most of the chances that come against us have been a breakaway and there's been fuck all cover. Jury's out on Donnaruma until we see him in our side. He's a massive presence and should bring stability but there is a reason Enrique has discarded him. Big call next up for the derby will he come straight in - my money is on yes

That's a cracking article - great share. It's v interesting to see the stats from this season which shows how the goalkeepers across the board are already hitting punts 25% of the time more often this year after years of the trend going shorter.

That's a big shift - quite fundamental, and it's interesting in light of that, that Guardiola has sanctioned this signing and allowing Eddy to leave. It does indicate football tactics are evolving beyond what Guardiola brought to the table, bacvk towards faster transitions and I wonder if the early/subtle shifts are why we've struggled the last 12 months. It certainly looks and feels that way with how often we're finding ourselves outnumbered on a counter.

It looks like City have seen the trend and are acting on it - but I would have thought the required answer would have been more solididty in midfield and more mobile/faster defenders. Yet we let Walker go and didn't replace him.

Glad football is changing, hopefully for the better, as the PL for the last few years has (like City) been close to unwatchable.

The video I posted goes into more detail and isn't just about the two keepers. Shows how crap Raya is and how bang average Alison is

Trafford was a good signing, a very good young prospect. Donna Summa also a very good signing. Both are good shot stoppers , arguably Eddy's weakness. Ultimately its the 10 in front of them that make or break a keeper. Perhaps s shot stopper is what we need given Peps insistence on a highline defence?

No chance, sadly.
Dias and Stones are slow, that would work if only our back four were as fast as Khus.

First Israel goal was shite defending by Italy - a defender just slid in and scored an OG.
Second goal was well taken - no error for Donna.
Third goal even worse defending by Italy, standard cross along the floor that should have been dealt with and Italy defender just swung a foot at it and scored an OG.
Fourth he couldn't have done a thing about. Shit defending again.

Let's not just read headlines and actually use our eyes, lads

Yep, was just about to post something similar.
Just seen the goals, not one was a goalkeeping error.

Hasn't some of the justification for getting a goalkeeper who is not as good as Ed with his feet that he will be able to make amends for the defensive foul-ups we are prone to?
