He was very good at Wolves, now we are seeing a settled player.

Agreed. He still gives me the shits with his barging in the box. He will never be a right back though and we really need to bring in a quality replacement in the summer

I reckon he could easily be RB in the PL team of the season, he's better week after week. That block yesterday was superb, he came from nowhere. Rodders is getting back to how he was as well. MOTM for me but I thought all bar Marmoush were good. Great 3 points

Agree with you and Mase the block was excellent. He has pace and he's not afraid to get sruck in. I'll stick with my view that a recognised rb should be on our shopping list though.

It was a great block. What no one has mentioned was that it was his error that gave the ball away in the final third. He tried to scoop it over a Leeds player to play in one of ours. Easily read, and intercepted. So what we are saying is that he's getting better at clearing up his own mess

If something dramatic doesn’t shift, if we don’t suddenly find that spark, that urgency, that jolt that turns us back into a team worth watching, and by some miracle we still end up winning the league, it would mask what has been our poorest stretch of football.

This was another match we had no real claim to. Not on balance of play, not on intensity, not on clarity. And that, more than the result itself, is the worrying part.
Usually by this time we start to look really good in the past, now it seems it is getting worse and worse to watch.

Doesn't matter to me whether we are worth watching or not, as long as we are winning and currently 2 points behind the leaders. Teams have worked out how to stop the better teams these days. It ain't easy.

The past is a strange place. If you cast your mind back pre-Pep, pre-100 points etc, we used to drag along a little bit like this.

In the Pellegrini season we were what 7 points behind with 5 or 6 to play?? Yaya won those last games all by himself, helped by some serious incompetence from Dipper land.

But we didn't look even close to winning the league before that.

It's football.

We were, yes, but I think under Pellers (in the title season) we played some amazing proper football. 4-1 and 3-0 versus the rags, 2-1 vs the murdering cunts, 6-3 versus Arse, 7-0 versus Spuds.
Some proper beatings.

For me that season was better than, let's say, 2023-2024.

We didn't think that at times we were utter garbage either, well not to the degree we have in the last 18 months. Our poor play is exagerated by the fact that we know wd have some great players and are capable of being superb

We won the league in 13/14 with the lowest points total of our recent successes. Also got smashed by Barca in the CL last 16.

By smashed, do you mean playing with 10 men in both games? Didn't know 2-0 and 2-1 (in the dying minutes) meant smashed.
Or winning the league with one of the worst squads we had? And still playing some of the best offensive football I've seen.

Under Pellers, we reached our first-ever UCL semifinal.
But yeah, winning the league with the lowest points, that's it.

also Boyata, Demichelis, Javi Garcia, Nasri, Nastasic, Jovetic, Negredo who went awol mid season. And Fern was in his first season here.

Stu, are we allowed to say we played beautiful football with other managers or that was invented with Pep here?

We played some great football but the dippers imploded and we took advantage. Yaya got us over the line with an unbelievable season but we dropped more points than any other title winning PL season and that's a fact. 23/24 we lost to RM on pens , until then we were on for back to back trebles

Some might argue Arse dropped points in 2023 and 2024.
+150 goals in all comps under Pellers was something else. Don't know if that record was beaten.

Arse did but still got 3 more points coming second in your 23/24 season than we did winning it in 13/14

Stupot slates pellers at every given - gives him zero credit.Pellers was a total gentleman - Pep could learn a thing or 2 from him about how to be less arrogant.

Hey Carl, did you also watch the game on teletext ? over there in the Americas , do you pay some guy to ride his bike to generate electricity so you can watch the game ?

I don't know if Pellers was a Gentleman, he certainly came over that way with his snazzy Italian suits. Also, his hair was perfect. He was a bit stubborn though. IIRC.

If Savhino plays I tend to turn off the match and go back to throwing peanuts at the peasants.

Pellers was a gent and handled himself well considering it was public knowledge from day 1 that he was keeping the seat warm for Pep. Liverpool lost ground at the end but it was a great performance to get us back in contntion finlly clinch it. A good manager .
