Remember the last time the premier league said they were going to clamp down on the corner issues with the blocking and grappling in the box?

The game against Stoke City on August 20, 2016.
That was the very beginning of the 2016/17 season, it was the exact weekend the Premier League and the PGMOL introduced a new "clamping down" directive on grappling and holding in the box during set-pieces.
The Incident:
The Match: Stoke City vs. Manchester City at the Bet365 Stadium.
The Foul: During a Stoke corner, Raheem Sterling was marking Ryan Shawcross. As the ball came in, Sterling was caught looking at the ball while having his arm across Shawcross to impede his run.
The Penalty: Referee Mike Dean (who became the face of this crackdown that month) pointed to the spot immediately.

I cannot remember this being enforced again all season after this was given.

Still recall that to this day WW
And it still makes me piss

Didn't mike dean also give sterling a second yellow scoring the late winner one time for not leaving the pitch or taking his shirt off whilst other players ran to celebrate with fans ?

97th minute winner at Bournemouth away. Yet another Mike Dean masterclass at how not to referee. He blew the final whistle as soon as the ball was kicked from kick off as well

4th consecutive season he's scored 30 plus goals for City.
This season has already surpassed last season with 2 months left

Sorry to take us back to the scousers beating us in the CL. Milners challenge on Sterling as he was about to tap in a second at the south stand end, met every single criterion for a Red card/ assault/ game changer. How that never got the attention it deserved was beyond me. It still irks me to this day.

I watch last 20 odd minutes of the Rags match last night. Harry hothead was correctly given a red card (imo) for grasping the striker , cleary in on goal and pulling him down for a penalty. Yet today the Rags make an official complaint to Webb . what a joke. Daily Fail but :

Last season his third was his worst for us and well short of his first season and second season.
Despite his largely injury free season he'll do well to match his second season and he'll get nowhere near his first. It might well be the service he isn't getting but most defences have him figured out. Too static in too many games and lately his finishing quality hss been poor to average
Needs z massive game against Arsenal and he needs to avoud s grappling match

He'a 5 goals short of the 2nd season with 8 games left and already got 2 more assists despite that 2nd season being a PL winning season with more points and goals and a better team all round

Think he'll have to play like he did against Newcastle today and have a strong game at both ends of the pitch.

And the brutes at CB for Gooners will be all over him and he'll get no protection from the ref I'm sure!

A few games to do it but in his current form it's a tough ask. Definitely could do with him today

Is an outstanding striker and athlete but unfortunately when you're born with a silver spoon in your mouth it's easier to give up than fight when it comes to the crunch. Gets pushed around and dominated by physical centre halves far to easily. Needs a bit more bite for me but it can be argued that I might be asking for too much in this day and age of pampering.

Not close to a goal. Pressed the ball and was a distraction but we need more. In his post match interview he said sevrral times the ball needs to be put in the box more frequently and quicker than it has been. Just repeating what can all see

If we can't make our attack service Haaland, then we are playing him to occupy centrehalves for 90 minutes.

Like owning a Ferrari and having it spend all it's time being washed.
