Marescas exit from Chelsea was much earlier than planned, I think he was lined up to take over at the end of next season.
Interest being shown in Maresca + a likely unwillingness on his side, fairly, to wait for us for another year while offers for his services are coming in, things change, maybe pep would decide to stay, maybe Kompany might be available and would be preferred, lots of possibilities that would be unfair on maresca to expect him to hang about on a promise

Ergo - Pep wants to do the right thing and leave earlier than planned so Maresca can take over, I read he told another manager he was getting very tired and needed a break. So that’s what I reckon has happened, could be wrong but its my hunch
Interesting theory you have there and could be right.

Definitely feel like there is more to this story than meets the Eye.

Even now Pep repeating he still has 1 year left.

Yet i am seeing players linked to Maresca stories all over the Sports section in on line MSM, all feels a bit bizarre.

Pep 10 am pre-match media conference going to be interesting tomorrow.

Honestly i wouldn't be surprised if Pep signs a 3 Year extension next week it all feels that weird.

So he was going after all.

Oliver Holt still a cnut for not letting the Club do it their way.

I see Pep still staying part of CFG on the pay roll .Classy of the Club to to overcome any contractual issues with that last year of his contract.

It has been a great 10 years. I have watched the best Football of my life under Pep. Success beyond our wildest dreams 17 major trophies. Some wonderful memories. Champions League Trophy.

Fact is though the Football these last 2 Seasons had started to go a bit stale even with the 2 Trophies this Season. Pep has looked tired, the team has looked tired. not coached to a level we have had accustomed to under Pep. We threw away a League Title to make Arsenal the worst Premier League Champions ever. conceding 17 points from winning positions. We genuinely have looked clueless at times defensively. Set pieces have been non existent. Players struggled to perform for more than 45 minutes in many games this last season. We saw players in City shirts we should never have seen like Savinho, Favouritism towards aging players like Bernado who has been a City legend, flogged like a dead Horse. Rodri who looks done at a top level leaving us wilfully exposed in the middle. The set up with the first team had become more chummy than elite.

So in my opinion this is the right time to say thanks for the memories Pep. Greatest City Manager ever. Rightfully he will have a Stand named after him plus a Season ticket for life.

Time for a fresh energy a new journey. ,get behind the new Man and fuck off the Set Piece and Fitness coach. :D :D :D :D :D

Was an optional additional year. There wouldn't have been any contractual issues to work through

With all due respect Mate Pep has repeatedly said he had 1 year of a contract left this last week to anyone who would listen.

Does not matter anyway because he remains on CFG pay roll as a Club Ambassador.

If you can find Pep telling MSM at any point he never had 1 Year left i will stand corrected.

Great gesture by the Club and work around in my opinion.

Classy ending.

Semantics mate. He had one year left if he wanted it, he didn't. It was always reported as an additional year with an optional extra. There would have been all sorts of break clauses etc. That's all I'm saying. There wouldn't have been anything to work through as it would all have already been documented.
