Little bit unsure of why we would be negotiating with Chelsea regarding Maresca? He left there ages ago. I get that he probably had a clause in his contract determining that if he is sacked, as was the case, then his contract would only be paid up if he didn’t obtain other employment elsewhere. So any negotiations would surely be between ourselves and Maresca, or rather his agent, with Chelsea having fuck all to do with it.
To my mind we should not be paying up his remaining contract with Chelsea. If he wants to manage us then I’m sure he will be remunerated very handsomely and that should be the end of the story. If he is holding out for compensation from his contract after being sacked then that’s his right, provided he is happy at not working. And we should then immediately walk away. You can’t expect both.
