Pre Season

Pre Season

Postby nottsblue » Sun Jul 05, 2026 3:18 pm

Anyone know when our boys who aren’t on International duty are due in for pre season? Fitness and conditioning etc at the moment. And for that matter the players who went to the World Cup and aren’t in it any more

Presumably Maresca has started work and I imagine having been an assistant to Pep previously has a similar strong work ethic. He will want to assess his squad in terms of fitness and training schedules ASAP I’d have thought.

Arsenal have a potential big advantage over most of the top 6/7 clubs in they can hit the ground running. Us, dippers, rags, Chelsea, Spurs all have new managers and potentially need time to bed themselves in. So the sooner we are ready the better. And that doesn’t happen with the boys not there.

Totally understand guys who’ve gone deep in the tournament like the English, Spanish, Portuguese and French players will need a bit of extra time. But the others and promising Academy boys surely are back soon.

Also does anyone know where Grealish did his rehabilitation following his injury? Any word on where he will be? A fully fit and focused Jackie would be like a new signing

Hold on mate, I haven't completed my summer break yet. The brain needs a rest!

Ibiza or Las Vegas pool parties I expect

In all seriousness I don't think I'm alone in hoping Grealish not only has a rennaisance, but an opportunity to play to his strengths. To get Grealish as a 'new signing' next season would be a shot in the arm, especially if accompanied by a rejunvenated Foden.

20 July the non-wc group are back I think

There will be little to no pre season in a world cup year, saying that most players just need the edges knocking off them they are fit all year round in the main.

Gone are the days when players returned from a few months off carrying timber from booze and bags of chips.

Thought we didn’t look overly fit towards the end of the season in the latter stages of a good number of games. Possibly why we conceded a lot of late goals

Maybe now without Pep there we might get the use of a bigger squad and resting players more? Well we can hope can't we?

I hoping Maresca at least knows how to utilise substitutions to be honest

I'm confident he'll hit the ground running, looking forward to next season and seeing how it pans out.

A lot of players had no proper rest due to the club world cup last summer and we went all the way in both domestic cups. Lots of 'minutes' in those legs
