World Cup 2026

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

As a neutral, and without wanting to rub it in, just two things.

First, the quality is there in this England team. It’s inflated at times, sure, but the quality is undeniable. What makes them so hard to sympathise with is the relentless hype surrounding them. It’s almost impossible to warm to England when you constantly hear the same pundits talking with that air of superiority, as if success is somehow inevitable.

Second, I think Tuchel is taking far too much of the blame. Yes, he took a step back after going ahead, but I honestly don’t think that decided the game. We all witnessed something different. What happened after England scored wasn’t something you coach or prepare for. The argies were possessed. That level of hunger, intensity and conviction is impossible to manufacture. Sometimes a team just reaches a state where nothing the opposition tries is going to stop them. I genuinely don’t think anything would have worked.

This is absolutely spot on.

Shearer making out Rogers is now better than Beckham. The other twat commentating compared Pickford with Shilton and Banks  Gordon apparently world class now as well.

Most England players are absolutely repulsive. The "world class" Bellingham soon spat his dummy out and started kicking off once he couldn't get a lick on the Argie players - standard for him. I thought he was the one who "dragged England to victories" all the England fans said? He might do against the federation of Congo FC but when has he done it against a top top team?

Harry Kane another player that spends more time moaning to the ref than he does scoring goals.

"Balon d'Or Dec" was anonymous as usual. Anderson was kicking off left and right and getting stuck in - Rice was nowhere to be seen. But he's another one that is made out to be class.

The whole "it's coming home" makes every single neutral hate England.

I was here in the city, before the game, and was stuck in traffic and was watching some street screen and was reading Scholes and Joe Cole talking about the argies. Even as a neutral, you start to support argentina from that point on.

Then, at the end, the world's first primadonna, "Jude" could have shown some class, instead, again, he showed his true colors by smacking that Argie. Since the first minutes that was the way he acted.

I really don't know what you can change to make people actually want for England to win it.

Does a similar thing not happen in other countries? I don't watch foreign TV or read the foreign press but I find it hard to believe we are the only country that this criticism can be aimed at.

I would imagine other countries, like Spain, the media are honest - hence they win so much. Imagine them making out Ferran Torres was the next R9 - that's the equivalent of what the English media and pundits do.

It depends. For serial winners, they are a bit entitled to do that. They have the trophies to prove it.
Here is not the case.

I remember that moment in American Gangster when Denzel Washington told another cast member "The loudest one in the room is the weakest one in the room". Feels a bit like that, to be honest.

Bit too much like the qualifying rounds for the FA Cup when in reality it starts for most people at Round 1 or Round 3.

Tuchel is a cunt and should resign today. Of course he caused it and every single person who knows football said it that exact moment.

These managers make stupid money for being thick

Just watched the video of Bellingham giving Messi shit during the game and laughing at him and Messi stopping and just nodding his head as if to say "okay, we'll see then".... And we all saw  Cheers Jude

It's a bit weird that I don't give a fuck, 50 years ago I would have been devastated.

Small point of order though, the Falklands are ours you argie bastards :)

Absolutely - now it's just another tournament exit. Couple of times we didn't even get there!

And yes, they might win a football match, but we won the big away match that mattered in 1982. Falklands are British with British people, claimed long before Argentina was an independent country. The cunts just want the oil and fish!

Took all 3 kids to see us play TNS there, in UEFA cup (?).

In another world!

I remember going there as a kid for that game. Roof closed - strong smell of grass when you walked to your seat. And Willow Flood playing

Pretty sure both teams will to be honest.
It's a glorified pre season friendly but it's great to be in. Quite annoying last year when we weren't in it for the 1st time in years and it was dippers v Palace. Only positive was the result.
