That was my thought, baldy 2 must have used this game to assess player's sharpness.

Winning this is like the kiss of death. The only thing hurts out of all this is watching Arse-holes and their media brigade jizzing themselves over a meaningless glorified friendly

Arsenal are a solid team, coming off a season as champions. Close season has seem them strengthen their team . We have seen Pep go, and little in the way of strengthening being done. Anderson is solid but we need more signings. RodrI on his sunbed waiting to go to Spain , Savinho should be gone and Lewis should follow. Reindeer off to Saudi and we lost decent player in Bernardo and Ake. I have always seen this game as a friendly kick about to showcase English football. It's probably been push too much as a the first 'trophy' of the season but it has little value for me, Today was just a reflection of a club that is settled and playing well vs a club that is being rebuilt.

Ultimately for me anyway, i'm more interested in the 115 outcome at the moment. That means this coming season and probably the next one is abit meh.

Madrid, Inter, Chelsea, us.
I swear I don't understand. Plus a fucking sick note.

I was perplexed to read that Maresca said he is relying on him this season.

Its also stupid af making players like walker and bern captains for a year.

Should have been rodri last year, but wouldn't make a difference now ( or who knows he might have stayed) the only reason he might want dias is because we have NOBODY else.

Dinho, kdb, gundo, bern, stones, ake, now rodri.

Who is left that has been part of our success, a senior player with leadership?

Phil - myth for years.

Haaland - not my choice.

Id maybe risk it and go with guehi.

Donna is erratic as it is. Maybe josko? But hes going to be playing between cb and lb imo.

Great weekend in Cardiff only spoiled by the football.
Can't say I'm that bothered about the result, I don't count it as a trophy win or lose and the winners never win the league as we reminded a lot of gooners whilst queueing over an hour at the train station- what I am bothered about is the performance. Terrible all round.
I was looking forward to seeing Semenyo on the left as he has been to great effect pre season and thought he'd play Doku right - Khus doesn't work at right back( Nunes got injured in the warm up apparently and replaced by Reiss on the bench) which makes the lack of RB cover worrying. Dias should be CB cover now and definitely not 1st choice but he's captain which is crazy. Guehi surely should have been captain.
Need a busy week on the transfer front.

In short, no. Looked like the same Foden we've seen for the last couple of seasons. I maintain you cannot judge the season ahead on any Community Shield performance, but it was worryingly shite regardless.

Kovacic seems to be getting all the blame for yesterday, however I am pretty sure I saw 10 other shite performances too.

Kovacic is OK, nothing else. Anderson, who I expected to be in the centre, was over on the right somewhere. What's that all about?

But however willing Kovacic is, at our supposed level he's a sub at best. He's no Rodri, Fern or even Gareth Barry, for that matter.

Be nice to know what the plan is, if there is one!

Kova couldn't get in Chelsea's first team and we think he's going to be a good starter for us 3 years later!

There is no chance in hell Kova will be a key player for us this season. He played yesterday and in preseason because the majority of our best players only got back to training on Weds.

Although not sure why either Nico G or even Grealish couldn't have played ahead of him.

I think we need to keep calm. The fact we played completely differently to all 3 pre season matches makes me even feel inclined that it was on purpose to not give anyway any tactical insights ahead of the season

I'd like to think that Nico G not starting was because he was going to start as a no.6 with Anderson aa a no.8 for next week but fail to see why we would not try it out first? Part of me wants to believe your lets set up and play shite idea to give a look of hopelessness, but there was simply too much wrong with the entire setup.
