edit:
dazlebluefrog wrote:beefy mate you got something against ref's??last week that twat against scouse scum 2 now for barca ,who's next weeks ref gonna be for??
as for the lanky swede he should play for city .......shit 1st half different player 2nd
Not really mate, I just say things as I see them. Barca are real class and they shown in the first 20 just how good they are. However, I'd mentioned to the lad that I believed that whatever happened during a must watch game, that UEFA would want the best in there, just like his own. As I know and as he has told me, he wants Barca to win but still come back with the statement that he thought the ref had booked Fabregas unjustly and that he's noticed that Barca got decisions that put them on the front foot whilst Arseanal got the niff-naff-and-trivia.
Just an observation mate, however I might start a Ref Watch for our last games of the season ;-)
Fuck me, UEFA are watching MCF.Net.........we're fucking famous ;-)
And to be truthful, even with a 2-2 score going back to theirs, then the ref can stand-down.
Edit: Love ya man!!!

With Pique getting a yellow and Puyol sent off Barca will be without both of their first choice Centre backs for the 2nd leg.
Interesting.

Probably one of the best games Ive ever seen......it really was the most entertaining football match Ive seen for fukcing donkeys.
Hats go off to both of them..probably the best 2 most attractive playing sides oin the world.

Great game, but it was good to see that it wasn't all one way. The bewdiful game is forever going strong in Europe, and for me, it's a shame we can't see that every week.

What a game! I know many people dont like him but fair play to fabregas he risked further damage on that injury because he wanted to stay on the pitch and try and help his team.
Was it just me or did henry look like he didnt want to try and score, kept getting the ball and taking it up the line, never really trying to cut inside

Football as it should be played, this one was never going to disappoint.
Fabregas' booking was diabolical, it's decisions like this which is going to make tackling a thing of the past at some stage, as the risk is just too high. Fabregas tracks back, times his challenge to perfection and gets a yellow card which keeps him out of the return leg (I know he's fucked now anyway but he wasn't to know what was coming later at the time). The ref was in such a good position I can't see how he could get his decision so wrong.
Song made a quality tackle on the edge of the box and Barca get a free kick!
It's like Caldwells red on Monday, don't get me wrong it was just the tonic we needed, but it shouldn't have been a red in real terms but in the 'modern game' the ref has nowhere to go. He came over the top of the ball slightly and thats enough now, irrespcetive of whether you win it or not. The problem here is that because football boots are more like slippers nowadays players seem to get more injuries and so get more protection from refs as a consequence.
Defending is part of the game and it's becoming ever harder to do this effectively, a proper challenge was always one where you took the ball and your momentum clears out the attacker at the same time - perfectly fair once upon a time, yet now you can get away with pulling shirts and grabbbing arms where playing the ball has nothing to do with it....very odd.
But back to topic a quality game indeed looking forward to my annual visit to the Emirates with City in a few weeks (even though we seldom get a good result there)

I find the CL really boring up until the QF stage and then it throws out mouth watering ties. That was just brillant to watch and it's a shame it wasnt the final.
Barca are on a different planet to everyone else at the moment. Im 27 year old so does anyone under the age of 30 disagree this is the best club side they have ever seen. I remember as far back as the AC Milan team of the early nineties.

to be fair, altho i am not sure why i want to be, Bolton under Coyle don't look anything like their typical murdering selves. They are playing some football...i saw two matches in the last month where i felt like they were actually entertaining for 15 minute spells and i was really enjoying the stuff they were playing. I'm not making this up.
cheers

I watched the game but maybe its just what i saw but barca for the first 20 was completely dominant and the the first 15 of the second half. If you can make it through those stages and have a very good attacking team they can be beat. I dont think they can keep it up the way they played for a full 45 minutes but you have to be a very good team not to concede more than 2 while they are dominant :)
But beautiful football to watch id love messi at city, and ibra looked quality and stupidly tall last night.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one to notice!
I did like Messi's face when he was pulled off. He looked totally bewildered at what was going on.

If the first 30 mins of that wasn't a fantastic opportunity for every coach in the game to sit down and analyse then I don't know what is? Kids should be made to watch it to see how pass and move is really played, the Arse WERE chasing shadows, they couldn't get close enough to even foul the Barca players.
I know we had a topic on "3-0 and we were crap" but I would die happy if I thought City could ever attain the level of play that we witnessed last night.....sublime, awesome, beautiful don't begin to do justice to the style of play.
As PW was often heard to sing "Now that's ennnterrrrrrtainment"

I am attending the 2nd leg in Barcelona.
Arsenal got much more than what they deserved last night.
Straight red, give me a break.
