This has been done many times before in various different forms (England winning WC vs us getting to Europe; England winning European Championship vs City getting promoted etc. etc.). Added a poll though.
Personally I can't really understand people who put country before club and roughly 87% (going by the polls previous years) will agree.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

In my experience, "England" means the most to Cockneys, Geordies, and supporters of lower-league teams.

England winning the world cup for me as it will very rarely, if at all, happen but with our wealth achieving 4th spot should be a rule rather than the exception.
Why do people try to link domestic football with international football? They are two totally different games and never the twaine shall meet.

City getting 4th. My wife is English but I am German, whilst I do want England to do well and would not mind if they win the WC I want City to finish 4th more. :)
so now as every enemy circles our city
sour and sore, we swear war

If I had to choose I want City 4th.
England in the last world cup pissed me off so much I only care about them when there are City players in the 11.

England winning the world cup, no fucking doubt about it.
The thoughts of Rio Ferdinand kissing that trophy with those big juicy camel lips, before handing it over to Rooney to lick his spittle off it... well, it arouses me to be quite frank - I'm not gonna lie to you.

It is a toughie because of the sort of acheivement that would be and seeing all those estates with the houses painted like the tri colour when we just ENTER the comp is mad enough - what would it be like if we won it?!!
That said, City making it into football's elite means we will have the opportunity to build a real fantasy football team (if that makes sense!) and have cracking entertainment week in, week out.
So club over country for me mate.

I want England to win the world cup (even though the best players are a bunch of wankers who always seem to be get worse the closer a competition comes) but City come 1st by about 99.5%.
It used to be more like 75% City but since those cockney twats in the FA went against the wishes of most fans in the country by building the national stadium in London again rather than a central location & then had the audacity to reclaim the England team for London & sell fucking season tickets to prawn munching tossers to pay for it, England have gone further down my pecking order. In fact I'd rather Rooney was injured & Utd win fuck all than have him fit for the world cup.
Strangely enough, when it comes to cricket I'm 90% England 10% Lancs but that may change if they keep missing us off the test match calender.

It's not a fair comparison. England winning the biggest Trophy in Football and City getting 4th. City winning the Premiership and England the World Cup seems better.
