Your favourite City game that we lost?

I know defeat is tough at the time, but looking back.... I'll start off, top of my head

This season's league derby at the swamp. What a game.

that for me just cant be a fav but yeah cracking game. I remember a few years back going to Coventry at their old ground and losing 4 3 i think. Lee Hughes scored a couple and Darren Huckerby was playing which perhaps was his debut? anyway that stands out as a great game despite me not remembering much about it ha

Is it fair to say we "lost" to Hamburg at Home last season? i.e. We went out of the Competition despite winning. Best atmosphere ever and it cost us all £5.

First trips to Away Grounds have resulted in a defeat but something enjoyable because it was something new - but I've got bittersweet memories of throwing away the lead to Fulham under Sven or being walloped at Home in the Premiership under Royle. Leeds and Leicester come to mind.

Hi Garry,I just wanted to shake your hand and ask you a question.I go to COMS as mucha as possible but sometimes I cannot leave the house as Sophie.....sorry..Sophie is my Cat...... needs a carer when Im away and sometimes I cannot find one.
My question is ; Is it possible to bring Sophie to matches at COMS in her kitten box and can she come in for free?

Got to be the 1981 cup final replay.

I still haven't recovered from the disappointment to this day - but it was one cracking game.

Hmm its kind of an oxymoron (if thats the word) any game we lose is an absolute shitter for me. I'll go with the hamburg game because we had a shitload of chances, played amazing, good atmosphere and we didnt 'lose'. Still gutted though.

When we lost 5-0 to arsenal. The fans stopped giving a shit about the result after the fourth went in after 20 minutes, appreciated that we were watching truly great players playing at their best and had a party and appreciated the football on offer. Henry got a standing ovation when he went off. As strange as it sounds, I loved nearly every minute of it.

This interests me - because so many people I spoke to were really positive about the performance and left the Ground with their heads held high. I was convinced we'd do it until the Final Whistle blew and was sad afterwards because of a variety of reasons. It's just how you look at it on an individual level. But I'm struggling to find fault with the whole day.

one of the few times iv watched city lose knowing that every player out their could have done any more for the team and can go home feeling proud

Can't say I enjoyed the derby but as I was in Cyprus on holiday at the time I took great comfort from the fact that out of the whole bar I was the only one both in a city shirt and with an M post code and as I walked past some cockerneys to go to the toilet, they looked mightily relieved and couldn't take the piss.

Re OP, the only one that springs to mind was LC tie at Southampton in 1999 that we lost 4-3 aet. They were still top flight and we'd just gone up from div 2 to div 1. Again I was on holiday (Gran canaria) and got chatting to the only Southampton fan in the bar as we watched. He was a fair minded bloke and admitted that they'd been lucky to win. We played really well but their was a gulf in class.
Balotelli......that's a brilliant finish.

3-1 against Chelsea on Robinho's debut. He scored the free kick after 10 minutes or so and the whole team ran into the corner to celebrate.

The Arsenal game where everyone was singing Joe Royle's name & marvelling at their football as we got murdered. That was the last real example of the old City support imo. That kind of backs to the wall, we love our club, support, will never happen again. The ground would be empty at half time if it happened now.

Arsenal 1-0 away under Sven comes to mind. Great game and really unlucky to lose. That one left me with a massive sense of hope and beleif.
