If were not going to keep him, i would rather him go somewhere that he will get a game and unless bolton sell lee i cant see him doing it there. He needs to be playing now whether in the premiership or ion the championship...

surely, the imminent departure of Petrov opens a spot on the wing positions, and I wouldn't be suprised due to the clash of personality between Bellamy and Mancini, we could see Craig wanting to move on (although I doubt it). those scenarios would leave us with Johnson, swp and Weiss, and even Swp isn't a shoe in with his contractual issues, so Weiss may well play a part IMO

plus the owners appear to be committed to giving academy graduates an opportunity, and weiss is one of them.

Vladimir Weiss looks set to return to Manchester City in the summer due to his frustration at a lack of playing time at Bolton.

The midfielder moved to the Reebok Stadium on loan in January with the aim of improving his chances of playing for Slovakia at the World Cup, where he could face Group C opponents England.

But Weiss is unhappy that he has been restricted to a fringe role at Bolton and he wants to make his way back to City when his temporary move comes to an end.

Trotters boss Owen Coyle is eager to keep the 20-year-old on an extended loan, but that would now appear an unlikely scenario.

"I came to Bolton hoping to play a lot. I need to be playing to be sure of getting into the squad for the World Cup," he said in the Daily Star.

"I don't really know what will happen next season, but City want me back and I love playing for them so I think I'll be going back."

there is a simple reason for that Vhero.. Evra had his number.
Johnson is great on both sides, we have seen that in various games already.

As for Vlad, it seemed to me that he only needs to beef up a bit.. he goes to the WC and will get one hell of an experience there. If he is a bit bigger come next season then i cant see a reason we shouldn't keep him in the squad at city

I see ´academy syndrome` is taking over again. ´Academy syndrome` means that youngsters are ´given a chance`despite the misgivings of a manager (or 2) who can clearly see they are not up to it (took one look and realised he couldn´t use him despite a weak midfield). All this at a time when we should have 22 top players next season capable of challenging for major honours against any team in Europe, because we have the money. Our prospects slip away whilst people are giving a chance to players who clearly wont make it. Academy syndrome also manifests itself in regarding youngsters as still a great ´prospect` as they shoot away from their teens and start ploughing rapidly through their 20s (see sub-syndrome ´Sturridge`). WEISS WAS BORN 30.11.89 FFS. To me players who are going to make it are like Richards, obvious at 16 or 17. 20 & 21? Not a chance in hell. The lower Premier teams (notably Burnley) and every lower division is littered with examples of City ´Academy syndrome`, players who people on here have sworn will take us to all-conquering European status but, when all is said and done, they dont remotely cut it. Once we were desperate (and still a lot of these guys didn´t make it!), now we´re not. If it´s any consolation many Scum fans have the same syndrome. ´Wonderful` academy prospects who turn out to be pants.

Looking at our wide men I think there may be wholesale changes in this department:

Johnson - playing on his ´wrong` side of course, but Bellers is much more effective on the left for sure (dont know why). So the team is better with both on the field, no question. Definite for next season.
Bellers - question marks over knees and possibly clashes. However must like his wages and the prospects. Probable.
SWP - lifeless shadow of his former self, either because all around him have improved or because he´s lost it! Gives the ball away so much (usually by falling over) that it is inconceiveable he holds down a place in a top four side, OR a Mancini side. Doubtful.
Petrov - not good enough or fast enough after injury, if indeed his all-round game ever was good enough. Wrong age, injured, out of contract. Very doubtful.
Weiss - Mancini took one look and packed him off on loan, buying AJ. If he thought he was up to it he would´ve kept him, but he obviously regards him as currently inferior even to SWP and Petrov, which says a fair bit.

More players needed!

It's not often that I disagree with you John and although I acknowledge the point you are making, I think that to write off all our academy plyers is a bit brutal.
Our academy has served us very well in the past, at the level of player that was needed then and I think the club are fully aware that a higher standard of youngster needs to be brought through in our present situation. That is why we have increased investment and widened our scope to a global perspective.
I don't think Mancini took one look at Weiss and packed him off. I think he probably noted the potential and saw a loan at Bolton as one way to enable the player to reach it.

In the past finances and a lack of 1st team quality has dictated that we took a chance on players but I don't see that situation at City at present. I think Weiss has tons of natural abitliy and only needs the experience he thought he would get at Bolton. I don't see us taking a chance on young Vlad, I see it as developing a youngster who will quite soon be a very valuable asset to the squad..

Weiss wanted to play, Mancini took a look at the wings and said ok go to Bolton for 6 months no problem.

Situation now is Petrov, SWP, Bellers are all injured/out of form.

AJ has to play.

Weiss can come back after the world cup, which he will go to, and will get time on the pitch, hopefully he will make it worth while. If he catches the eye Mancini will know what he is capable of, and he will get game time next season no doubt.

Like I keep saying, we're in Europe, we want to challenge on all fronts, we need more than 22 players because they will all be getting plenty of games.

City winger Vladimir Weiss has completed a transfer to Italian outfit Pescara.

The 22-year-old has joined the newly promoted Siere A side for an undisclosed fee.

The Slovakian international joined the Blues in 2008 and made his first team debut against Bolton Wonderers in the last game of the 2008-9 season.

In January 2010 Weiss joined Bolton Wanderers on loan until the end of the season, although most of his time there was spent on the bench.

Next up for the winger was a move to Scotland where he joined Rangers on loan for the 2010-11 season and in doing so claimed an SPL winners medal.

The Slovak had a successful season at Spanish side Espanyol last year and will most likely be remembered for scoring a spectacular goal from outside the penalty area during a 3-3 draw away at Athletic Bilbao.

The club wishes Vladimir every success at his new club and in his future career.

Looked a very exciting prospect few years back but couldn't really step up to first team level at City.
