There are alot of members of this site who have slated Given many a time when there was no need to, seriously he is the best keeper in the premier league, now that he has injured himself maybe it will make you appreciate him more. Bottom line is we're lost without him, he's passionate and a good leader to the team! Never mind getting another goalkeeper to step in, if anyone is going to take over given's place it has to be Joe Harte, he's ours NOW GIVE HIM BACK NOW!!!

Wrong - That cunt Van der saar is better than him.

Agree about bringing Hart back........... although we fucking cant so will have to rely on Nielson, who imo did very well today and he didnt make me nervous at all (there again I wasnt really nervous all day as the game was shit and defensive with no real drama for either keeper)

We are not, though. We went into the season with Taylor as cover and Nielsen returned from loan in the summer, too. Good luck convincing the authorities. "We couldn't have known that Taylor would be this shit! Come on!"

Question for Doug - Doug would you say he is the next best keeper in the squad after Given? Taylor seems to have dropped down the pecking order. What about the young German lad you mentioned?

It was refreshing to see him on the edge of his box collecting loose balls instead of being stuck on his line !!!!
On the little showing he had , Im pretty confident in him to continue in goal.

We didn't see him make a single save though mate as Arsenal were too dumb to shoot & he waved good bye to the one decent effort from the free kick. I have a feeling he'd have to make saves v Villa & Spurs.

Let the Gunnar era begin. Still have not seen an answer about Taylor, but if he is indeed hurt, we clearly are in line for an emergency loan deal. Maybe Brum owes us Miak Taylor as thanks for them staying up this year ;)

I think we should be looking very very closely at the small print on the loan of Joe Hart as he clearly is what we should have now as he is our keeper.Sad for Shay as he had missed a couple of days training this week with a shoulder strain issue and then this.

But the answer on Stuart Taylor I think is that he had a knee clear out operation I think. probably a key hole one and I saw him out training for the first time in weeks on Friday. He had a heavily bandaged leg and was only doing fairly light work and nothing at all in goal.I would not think he is fit enough to play next week. I still can't for the life of me work out why what seems like a non serious operation happened 6 games from the end of the season!

As for choices there would have been 3.Tobias Johansen who is on loan to Norwegian side Kongsvinger! Gunnar Nielsen who has been on the bench lately as we know and David Giraldo Gonzalez the Columbian. The recent addition is Lorius Karius but I think we can discount him as he is very young even though he has played a couple of reserve team games.

Mancini has already shown that it is Nielsen as the number one so all other options aside that's who we will get. Is he ready /good enough for the premier league? Sorry Gunnar if you read this but no I don't think he is.Decent keeper for sure and quite a good shot stopper , not bad at one to ones but I fear he has that classic weakness on crosses.Massimo the keeper coach has worked quite a lot on crosses so hopefully he has been improving.

One thing you will get from Gunnar though is effort. At the end of last season I think it was he was recovering from a broken bone in his hand and was pushing himself hard on his own outside to get back to fitness. Not that easy on your own but he was working hard.

Any chance we could get Weaver on loan for a few weeks?

This injury and today's draw (missed opportunity to leap frog Spurs) may be blessings in disguise. A young keeper could galvanize the team infront to protect him and put more emphasis on gaining and maintaining a 2 goal cushion to take the pressure off shold he conceed. the fact we are still behind Spurs may force Mancini's hand in unleashing our attackers.

OK. It's a stretch. But it's a ray of hope in my mind. :-)

Whats the Columbian guy like and when did he arrive? Must have totally missed that one!
I guess he'll be the one on the bench for the next game. If Taylor didnt need that operation its a really bad call to let him have it during the season?!
Gunner it is then. Come on Gunner lad!!!! Get us into the Champions League!

Wow, he's really putting his neck on the line there isn't he!

I'm thinking about possibly exploring the possibility of maybe marrying Kylie Minogue.

See you at the church.

True, but I don't think it would bring a grown man to tears (not Given anyway) and needing Oxygen.

My mate dislocated his shoulder trying to do a forward somersault after half a bottle of 96% Norwegian moonshine. (Only got half way & dived head 1st into solid wood floor). He didn't need oxygen, just more moonshine & the company of blondes. Took a long time before it was right though. Don't think he would have been keeping goal for a while.
