Real supporters have been desperate for their tenth title, la decima or the 'Tenth Symphony', as they call it. In European terms, Real Madrid are no better than Olympiakos, PSV or Stuttgart: they can get into the group stage easily and get out of their group AND NOTHING ELSE. Since they last won the Champions League, Real have been quite easily eliminated by Juventus (twice), AS Monaco, Arsenal, Bayern Munich, AS Roma, Liverpool and Olympique Lyonnais- the last five being in the first knockout round. To recover their European reputation, they may just hold their collective noses and take a chance on the 'Special One'.
As for Benitez and Juventus, to say Juventus do not have money is terribly unfair. They are a club who will not go into debt, however, to sponsor a title push, as dictated by the reigning Agnelli family/FIAT. As for their spending, Juventus spend 52 million euros this past summer to aquire Diego from Werder Bremen, Felipe Melo from Fiorentina and Fabio Grosso from Olympique Lyonnais. This is a club that will spend to be competitive and would probably open the vault for Benitez. He would only need to deliver success and quickly. Juve have not recovered (or won anything apart from Serie B) since Calciopoli and are desperate to reassert their claim to being Italy's most successful club. I'd almost hope Mourinho stays at Inter to clash with Benitez at Juventus. Could be very amusing...
Crazy talk. Real being similar to fucking Olympiakos or PSV. Absolute crazy talk.
Real Madrid are GIANT club, the most succesfull club in the history of football. And that is no coincidnce, The resources are humungous. They have just had series of second rate managers and the Chairman has had too much to say in player policy. Jose himself has said that he has THREE aims in football left, to go to Spain and win the league there (meaning he'd win all the major leagues in Europe), come back to England and do it all over again and somewhere along the line manage Portugal. NOW is his opportunity to move to Spain and do it there and there are no better places than Real Madrid. Furthermore, Jose very much hasn't forgotten how Inter supporters treated him in the beginning and in all likelyhood when he has proven them to be clowns will never go back. So going to Real isn' far fetched but very likely.
Juventus are financially in shit big time. Their fortunates are tied to how well Fiat are doing and they are in SHITE. Under Sergio Marchonne the have made HUGE investments on car industry during this past year and it can be described as bet with poor odds at best. They don't have mega money, certainly not the kind of money Rafa is always looking for, to spend. Simple as that. Rafa will go there because that's his chance to resurrect his career and there will most certainly NOT be offers from better clubs. Anyone who will do their background search on Rafa carefully enough will take a pass on him.
