Hard Luck Sheikh..

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Hard Luck Sheikh..

Postby Abu Dhabi » Fri May 07, 2010 11:14 pm

Like most of you,City got my feelings mixed in the last week. From aspirations and hope before the game to sorrow after it to desperate esteem building the morning after. Those feelings got a lot of me and, in a personal experience, prevented me from enjoying other stuff I would have enjoyed more otherwise. I am talking about our UAE league where I couldnt enjoy the build up to my team's league deciding matches. Now my passion to my team is just like yours to city, been to all matches while am there this season and had some nice away trips at Syria and Saudia, but I just cant understand how come city put me off. So today we went on to win the UAE league a week early at the expense of our local rival and when I look back I can say ok the feelings started kicking off with the start whistle and I enjoyed it but looking from the outside I say the overall achievement to expectation came short.

Now this isnt going anywhere you are expecting, but with those feelings of mine, I can feel for Sheikh Mansour missing out on 4th with City and today missing out on the UAE league for us to win it (yes Sheikh I'm taking the piss, sorry). No seriously, in the last 3 years, his team Al-Jazira came 2nd to 3 different winners (ps: haha) and I am starting to wonder when is this man going to get the success he deserves. He took Al Jazira from nowhere and completely changed the club to make a team that challenged for the title in the last four years. You might say thats irrelevant but I know its relevant to Sheikh Mansour. Therefore I really feel gutted for him, not in a business sense, but from a fan perspective because I know how passionate he is about his football. This isnt sympathy, the Sheikh certainly doesnt need it. I am just expressing my sincere hope for reward to this guy.

Now here falls City for the job. As much as I'd love the success for the fans and all true blues who waited for ages and went through hard times, I would love it for this man. I truly believe that city will bring this big joy to him. So yes Sheikh, were are all blues and we'll enjoy the ride and I like many blues believe in City and progress but, locally, if you think you'll just take Al Jazira and win the league with a team full of overhyped mercenaries then you are mistaken.. coat on..

I watched the league highlights twice in Abu Dhabi er Abu Dhabi. the goalkeeping quality in your league is laughably bad. I did like the free flowing gameplay though and the risks players take and the improbable shots they go for but with the poor keepers they sometimes go in. I just did a Vhero sentence. hehe

Well I cant disagree with you here goalkeeping level is bad. I would say 3 reliable and 3 decent keepers and the rest is shit. But who is to say that the level of defending isnt bad too? Then again, I could go on about many bad things, like playing few league games (22), but I'd rather not start.

I'm glad those two seasons are over, because the fact that the winner of the domestic league automatically qualifies to the Club World Cup which Abu Dhabi hosts made all teams piss on CL and focus on the league. Now I want to see better performances from UAE teams and specially my team next year. We dont have a bad record there.
Do you support any Australian team? What about your chances next Asian cup? I am weirdly having unusual positive expectations.

Believe me, I resisted the temptation a couple of times, but I am 24 years of sober flesh.

And yes, I googled that melanie and she looks good.

I go to games but I don't support a team. None have taken my heart yet. Asia Cup should be good for the Aussies now they know it's not a cakewalk and that they actually have to perform. Always have to beware Japan and Korea though. And as Iraq showed at the last Cup, any team that's organised yet fearless can pull something out of the hat.

Its a shame Sheikh Mansour didnt come over for his debut in the home derby, might have spurred us on to victory.

Cant wait till he does come, the atmosphere will be amazing!

Do you mean a Bloody Mary? And any drink that has the word "virgin" before it means it has NO ALCOHOL in it.

Bloody Mary is okay, not really my drink, a virgin one would be tomato juice with a stick of celery in it I think.
