2 things we learned about Ireland as fans..

We slated him he played a really good season...
We praised him he played badly....

I think I may be onto something here!

You're right Vhero, he was driven on as I recall by unkind comments on the websites.

OK then - useless cunt!

Yeah and he will turn world class.

You can bet your ass on it.

We NEED to give him another summer to get back to full fitness. In full flow he is really top class.

Spot on NQDP, he's had a bad season but deserves another chance and if he can rediscover last seasons form we'll save a fortune on buying someone else (same for MJ who i'm hopefull can stay injury free next season)

Its simple

This season he has rarely been fit, even when on the pitch.

Draw a line under it, start again, don't do your fucking hill running so much this summer either!

Take up Yoga and meditate to calm your hyperactive mind. You'll be back on form next season.

My favourite player last year by a country mile, and I will happily admit that in the seasons before last I never thought he would ever be good enough to play in the premier league. I love the guy he plays football the way I like to see it played, however this season he has been poor, I partly blame the change of system for this, although that's not entirely to blame. When I've seen him his touch has been poor and has looked like he doesn't know what's going on around him. For Stevie (and City) the best thing to do is go back to the 4-3-3 system with Ireland as the middle striker, but dropping behind the two to the side of him. He can't play on the wing, he hasn't got the pace and he has admitted that although said he will do whatever is asked of him. The guy has a phenomenal attitude, he will know his short comings from this year and will work at them off his own back, we know he will do this. I would be very disappointed if we sold him, no matter how many millions you've got you can't sell players just because they've seemingly had a dip in form (even if it has been all season) you don't just go from world class to crap.

have been saying exactly this all season. if Mancini has anything about him he will get Ireland back in the fold and back on form. The period of stability we are now entering into will suit Stevie, he will try and learn the most he can from this year and will be as disappointed as anyone else with himself.

If you look at what this team are missing it is an on form Ireland.

personally i think he is our Fabragas, Iniesta type player and we have to do everything we can to get him in there and on song

Too right. That Brazil clique in the Squad was so wrong. I'm struggling to think of much more Robinho could do to turn the entire Fanbase against him. It's just a shame we're unlikely to see him play against us in the forseeable as he's happy to waste his career with Santos.

I think we'll see exactly what will happen with Ireland once he's got a full pre-season under his belt and Mancini gets a chance to work with him properly. He's been all injuries and random appearances in recent times yet the spotlight is on him because of how brilliant he was last season.

He's got 10/11 to sort himself out or move on. There's no point keeping hold of him in case he suddenly finds form. That's a ridiculous way to look at the situation.

I dont know if I agree that he should have a rest. Surely hes been resting all fucking season since his last full good game (the opening day at blackburn) ?

The fact thats pissing me off with ireland is not his recent shit-ness. But the fact that his desire / aggression has gone. And that came from his strength and confidence he got through his summer training.

If I was mancio, i wouldnt fancy stevie because hes only seen the atrocious, poor attituted stevie and not the player of the season stevie.
