This season, Balotelli has the same goals to games ratio as Berbatov. I hate to go all Carl here, but that's a FACT!

I think you might find Balotelli coming off the bench a lot this season, easier to get goals when you have 90 minutes instead of 15.

a couple of reasonable targets in midfield for creativity and determination would be benayoun and pienaar.
both quality premiership players that won't be in the CL next year.
are either of hleb and flamini available? they'd also be on my list.
Berbatov wins golden boot, spends following season on the bench while his team loses title on goal difference. Well played, Fergie.

That's exactly the thing I'd be arguing here:

When you have some 50 goals from your two main strikers, I think a lack of goals on Rocky's part is to be expected.

Hangeland?

There aren't many with the physical stature to compete evenly against Crouch and good enough for the top end of the Premiership.

Are we not signing a 6'3" german centrehalf? I get the feeling that Toure will be shuffled out to right back, we know he loves a trot upfield and is very comfortable on the ball. Lescott to leftback and Kompany pairing Boetang and we are sorted.

Do you not think we need proven quality cover, mate?

I haven't seen Boateng. How good is he?

I think we are taking this a touch too far, we are not going to have 2 top quality sides come the start of next season.

Not quite as far as this, I believe:

I'd be looking for a good quality Centre Half (although maybe we already have him in Lescott)
I'd want a right winger who can cross, and take a corner.
2x CM who is the go-to guy when the chips are down, who will put tackles in, who can see the runs ahead of him, and who gets in the box
2x CFs who are just an out and out goal machines, not ones who pop up in defence or the wings, and occasionally joins in the box.

FULOP! Sell Taylor and bring Marton in as bench warmer, assuming he would be willing to come here and get very few actual matches.

Realistic I couldn't say right now as I not been Europe competitions so don't know how well any players outside the prem are doing right now.

You posted this and only minutes later asked someone what they were smoking for proposing we go for ashley cole???!

Also, you believe after the season Ronaldo has had, his price has plumitted by something like £10m?

If we do just "throw 70m for C. Ronaldo" I'll tell you what they'll say -

"ARE YOU FUCKING JOKING?" Or something like that.

Thats to plug the gaps and give us the options. It still wouldnt give us 2x top quality XIs though would it, when you add in the list of players who I said I would ship out

Who said anything about two top quality XIs?

You were worrying about the quality of the cover, which is what I quoted. I observed that we were not going to have two top quality XIs available to us whoever we sign

Whats the problem?

Next season will be harder than this to break into the top 4 though we will have had this season's experience to draw on.

IMO we need:
Left Back - Bridge is not good enough defensively and wastes crosses when attacking. Lescott for a 'defensive' left back?
Right Back - Maicon or Santon from Inter would be great
Centre Half - Chiellini, Luiz or Hangeland (Kompany & Lescott could be a great partnership but we need competition)
Attacking Midfielder - Hamzek or Gourcuff
Centre Forward - Torres or Dzeko

Leader - De Rossi, if not available any suggestions?

If i was bobby manc i'd sign the following;

Antonio Cassano. Some say Troublemaker, Some say genius.. I rate him as a genius so top of my personal wishlist! The creative spark city sorely miss imo.

Jerome Boateng. Nailed on, the solution for the right back problem.

Mesut Ozil. The big up and comer of germany! Pacy, tricky, creative, he's got all the tools in his locker to have a big impact on world football for many years to come. The long term replacement for Bellers.

Fernando Torres. If we can we should. If we can't wait until another player of his calibre is on the market, our strikeforce is already awesome.. just the signing of Torres would make it unstoppable!

Also i'd put a left back and perhaps another centre half on the list too... hmmm maybe Taiwo at left back and Chellini at centre back.

Milner isn't a bad shout. I see him playing in central midfield as he develops and he may fit the bill if we're not able to attract the likes of Gerrard, De Rossi or Hamsik.

Out of the two of them I would prefer Parker to be honest, that guy is the real deal and there is no surprise that when everyone at West Ham was put on the transfer market, that Parker was the only exception.

James Milner. Can play left, right, center, wins the ball, can drive forward with the ball, good crosser, good shot, good attitude, English.

Quite right Slim fella. How people turned their noses up at Parker is beyond me. Milner doesn't always stand out, he's good but there is much media hype. You will always get a top performance off Parker.

simon kjaer or subotic - we are crying out for a top class centre back so any of these two would be good.

boeteng
dzeko
milner
otzil

and break the bank for torres.
