I think this would be a pretty strong squad. Have you heard anything lately about Davies, last I read it wasn't looking like he would be able to play but that was a few months ago... How's his recovery coming?

Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

Yes, just announced today. I'm surprised, thought he would at least make the 30.

Pretty sure Bradley waited to hear if he'd be medically cleared, but was told by Davies' club it wasn't going to happen.

I find it ironic that someone from Oz says American have awful accents.

And I don't think, regardless of the result vs England the US will be on hols early as that group is awful outside of the two.

Then again, if Fabio insists on not using Joe Hart, it could be a lot easier....

FROM Manchester.

I think only Dazby is actually from here.

would you like to bet a kilogram of vegemite vs 6 double whoppers with cheese that the US team[strike]s[/strike] earns at least a draw against your homeland?

i think FedEx can ship a whopper. Lord knows you've been shipping whoppers since i joined this site.

cheers

Jesus, if you want Vegemite you could just ask, but god knows I wouldn't even want to win this bet.

And only pussies claim the draw as a win...you and hughes huh?

Come up with a better bet.

Whenever reply to a subject on American football I cringe. Bullshit snid comments on US
culture does nothing but drive a a wedge between fellow City fans.

Here's my two cents: Unless your post has ANYTHING to do with the subject mentioned;
You can ____ my _____. Just fill in the sentence.

And yes I have a sense of humor about my country. Anybody who has seen the MLS has one.

Banter is fine, and I love a good rivalry. England are miles ahead of us and that will just make it that much sweeter when we catch up. And we will catch up. Our athletes are the best in the world, and we have a large population ... we just don't have the right people playing the sport yet. It will happen.

What I think is really funny, is how the response from the brits is always "have a sense of humour" , "we're only having a laugh", etc ... But when someone does the same to them all the handbags come out and no one can take it. You've all got rather large chips on your shoulder, which have got to be stale by now ... been sitting there since 1783.

On a serious note, what happened to Freddie Adu? Wasnt he meant to be the american footy sensation?
On a less serious note, i have fond memories on the old Pro evos where a fella in the US defence has his name changed
from Pope to Poope due to copyright laws. Poor guy

Freddy Adu is currently on loan, in international purgatory at Aris Thessaloniki in the Greek Super League. He scored one goal last season. So Freddy wasn't so super after all. As for Mr. Excrement, that seems to escape my memory.

Freddy Adu is .... 21 now? 22? I think he's the first american player who has ever crumpled under the weight of expectation ... because no one has ever expected anything of an american. I mean, this kid was 14 and he was being dragged around the states and put into commercials with Pele talking about how he is going to be the one to lead the US out of the dark ages and win the world cup 2010. maybe even 2006! He was supposed to be that fucking good.

debuting in the MLS at 14 was absolutely the worst thing he could have done ... If I were in a position to advise young american players, I would tell each and everyone of them to graduate highschool and immediately go abroad. You don't want to get caught up in the american college/pro soccer scene. It will destroy any chances you ever had of fulfilling your potential. my main example: Freddy Adu.

Maybe I'm foolish, but I still hold out hope for Freddy Adu. The kid is only 20 years old, and I think he can still turn it around. I agree signing with MLS was one of the dumbest things he could have done, but I don't think MLS can be held 100% responsible for his failure, some of it has to fall on Freddy's shoulders. There have been numerous reports of poor training habits and to quote his manager in Portugal, "a party every night attitude".
