Players missing for the World Cup - worth a bid?

Postby Bojinov's left foot » Wed May 12, 2010 5:09 pm

I see that Benzema and Pato have both missed out on squads for the World Cup.

Is it worth us making a bid to test the water and persuade them that the 'project' will help them to get to the top?

Any others that people have spotted who might be worth a bid??

I read about Benzema earlier that he wants to move because he didn't get called up to get his name known so you could be onto something here with this chain of thought however I read he was a flop at Real and that's why he's not been playing (26 apps 8 goals) . If he can't cut Spain then the prem is gonna be tough for him.

Benzema did'nt really stand a chance at Real this season the way Higuian has performed so yea i would take a punt on him.

A player that I'd like to see at City, reminds me of a 'Fabregas' but in a far inferior team.

Benzema would score a barrell load in the Premiership, unfortunetly I think he will be doing it for United and not us. They have tried to sign him a few times already and now they will get him at a knock down price.

unless we come in with a cheeky bid to crank the price up a bit, then back off once his appetite's been whetted. And if we landed him? fantastic.

we'll need another solid striker if we fuck off RSC, which we will i would guess.

cheers

Well with the wages they are on it could be difficult to move any of our big purchases from last season on.

There are reasons why Pato and Benzema have not been selected. Right or wrong, we have to take this into account.

Pato has been left out in favour of the likes of Robinho, Elano and Kleberson etc. Dunga obviously doesn't think he's up to it. I must admit when I've seen him play he hasn't been outstanding in a Milan team which also is not outstanding. So we should rush out and 'help him get to the top'? No, once again we aren't a charity.

Benzema, as Vhero eloquently pointed out, has been a flop at Madrid. Maybe Higuain has been outstanding, but then Raul still gets in ahead of Benzema, and I remain to be convinced he can do too much away from the French league.

Not, IMHO, the sort of gambles we should be going for in this stage of our 'development'.
