Darren Bent next season. Banging them in for fun at Sunderland and English(no need to adapt to language/culture etc) i reckon this would be a quality signing but theres a slight doubt(cant put finger on it)

thoughts?

agreed so its not just me.... he would do a job no thrills prolific goal scorer in average side without anyone up to his standard to play alongside or with the ammo swp, bellers and johno could provide. lets stop scouring the globe and look closer to home

Sunderland would never sell. He has kept them in the premier league this year. They would be relegated with out him.

He also seems to work best as the main striker, which I don't think he would be here. If he would be up for it, he would be great.

Adebayor to Sunderland, i dont think Adebayor would react kindly to that proposal.I have to say i prefer Ade myself far more than Bent.
If you take Bents penalty dutys out of the way i reckon Ade scores more from play than Bent.I dont see what the hang up is with Adebayor he did really well for us this season.14 league goals was a decent return from a player who missed easily 10-15 games this season. He also chipped in with a few assists along the way from what i can remember.

He was under estimated at spuds. He done good in a crap team scoring over 20 odd goals so how good would he be in a better team like us with better players around him?

Plenty of players look like stars in average sides yet cannot make that step up. Bent reeks of this, no way in the world would I swap ade for him.

How many of them are pen's?

If ade took all tevez's pens I wonder what his game to goal ratio would be?

Although bent has done well this year, and is a good player, ade is a natural goalscorer!

I wouldn't swap Ade for him. I'd just buy him. Whenever I saw him play for Tottieham he always scored yet was a benchwarmer. Goals for Sunderland is a good return.

Darren Bent? And even talk of him in a swap deal with Ade? Do me a favour. Nice 80's catchphrase to demonstrate how ridiculous I find the premise of this thought to be. We can do better.

hahaha, I happen to agree with daz on this one, we have two good strikers(who play as strikers and not left wingers) and we need some depth here, Bent wouldn't be a starter but I would love to have a striker who can impact off the bench and stand in when we get injuries.

like I said just the other day, I think he'd be excellent to have on rotation no way is he any sort of replacement to Ade and personally I can't see why we'd sell him anyway unless we are going to do massive striker changes in summer. Which I doubt will be the case unless Marwood goes mental.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

Partially agreed, would much rather have Bent on the bench than RSC however he didn't exactly flourish at Spurs under similar conditions. Maybe he just needs to play week in week out to produce the goods and if so we have better options

Imo he's the opposite to a 'big game player' & would be a massive step backwards. Offers absolutely nothing outside the box, has no brains or skill & never ever scores when under pressure.

I don't believe for one minute Mancini will sign Bent but if he does, here's my prediction for next season: Lots of people going on about what a great signing he is after he scores 4 v Wigan & gets a hat-trick v Newcastle.

Lots of us on here moaning about the chances he misses that get us knocked out of the League/FA/ UEFA cups & cost us 3points at OT/Anfield etc etc etc.
