Rumours From Spain

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Forlans almost past it. No chance Id take him.

Rooney will not be sold by the scum - Fergie would walk.

Berbatov will still fetch them up to 20 million, possible swapsies? Although I doubt Madrid would want him. I reckon they can make one big star signing or a few average ones.

Scholes, Giggs, Neville and van der saar (?) have another season in them (apparently) which puts off the need for them to sign 3 or 4 very good players to replace them this summer. I dont think they have a conveyer belt of youth teamers ready to step straight into the first team.

They'll be fucked eventually but probably not until next year, by which time the Glazers will probably sell, Fergie will probably leave and Rooney will probably move on too. Then the fun starts!

On the United subject, didn't they make a few hundred million from the selling of bonds?

Erm....just where did he "say" that

I have not read a single quote directly saying that, nor any vaguely alluding to it

January mate scroll through his interview during the window. He said something like 'in summer i want quality players, i would like players like maicon, ibra... ''and he name checked another player. I was surprised too but i was quoted in the MUEN. He has worked with both players and they love him.

lol, he has never once said it.

If I had nothing else to do I would find the quotes lol. Surely I wasnt the only one who saw this. It was when he was talking about loans of veira / gago and not spending in jan.

I thought there was a set amount like Dameerto said, and that's what they raised. I read recently that they were valued at 1.19 billion which is quite a rise, possibly taking into account that half billion.

Also, from speaking to a long-time rag, he was saying that after the Glazers taking their cut, they re-jigged the loans to pay off those really expensive ones (200 and odd million) which gave them more capital to play with.

We'll see mate, I don't reckon they're gonna go over the top, but I think they will definately strengthen with some quality aquisitions.

It was 'raised' but is a bond that has to be paid back mate, at a certain rate of interest. It does help them with their current rates, but the long term outlook is still bleak (chortle chortle).

Today

Sport.es asserts that both Fabregas and Villa will be Barca players in the very near future. They hope to be presented together before the WC, although agreement with Arsenal is some way off. Fab has however, been hooked and they reckon it's only a matter of time. Yaya Touré is 'on everyone's lips' as a makeweight in this deal, and everything should be sorted after the Valladolid match (that's Arsenal fucked then).

Elmundodeportivo comments on the Barca/Valencia negotiations, with Barca offering €40M and Valencia wanting 50, but still reckon it'll be done on Monday. More City-relevant is a 'Mancini is keeping his eyes on Ibra' headline. Basically Ibra - despite not having the best of times, football-wise, is still very coveted, but only by those with lots of dosh. 2 things put City to the fore - firstly we have more dosh than anybody, and secondly Mancini had Ibra for 2 seasons at Inter and knows his 'football potential'. Ibra is peed off because he has either been subbed when they most need goals or has been sat on the bench on his backside in definitive games, like the Sevilla one. Bojan's strong end to the season is relegating him to the 2nd level, and given him and Messi are the most costly (worth?) players, for Ibra it's 'key player or out' scenario. With Villa arriving this looks more likely. His agent points out that he has still 4 years of contract left, but it remains to be seen if Barca will want to keep Ibra for a second season, with CITY waiting for developments. Best stay away from the Ibra and Pique photo/stories doing the rounds in the lower echelons of the press and websites. (Bish & Trev?)

Marca is heavily into the 'Mourinho to Real' scenario and Johann Cruff sticks his oar in saying it's madness to pay €16M for a coach. They speculate that a major target is Frank Lampard who Madrid believe at 31 is in the 'peak of his career' and who, of course, has an excellent relationship with one Jose Morinho.

AS carries the 'I will manage Real sooner or later' comments from Morinho, and also quotes Luis Fabiano as saying 'I will probably leave Sevilla this summer'. The club wants to sell him because his contract is up in 2011. Milan wouldn't offer enough last year and AS says it's surprising that a player of his stature hasn't got any substantive offers yet. (Obviously Spurs dont count!).

Elmundo carries the Cesc, Morinho and Villa stories, as well as a quick 'if I dont get to the final it's failure' from Capello.

They've already signed £20m worth of player:
  • Chris Smalling (Fulham, £10m)
  • Javier Hernandez (Guadalajara, £10m)

Would not say they are quality aquisitions though.

Guys - where have you been on this subject??? do not talk the scum up.

This is just shuffling debt and the bond issue has not produced some 'warchest'. The most significant outcome of that bond issue was the way in which 'associated changes' were made to the scum's constitution allowing the Glazers to nick many £millions each year though fees.

This is a great big pension for them - they would not sell for less than perhaps £400m over the value - why would they?? they have a massive pension and the club have the liability of the debt - it is a 'deadly embrace' - Club have the debt - Owners can milk every year and very have limited personal liability - buyers not willing to pay over the odds (all that Red knights crap is just total bollocks)

They will drift down and down - this year they got away with it - but as I used to say in business life "..it is generally not when you get ill that you have taken the poison, but much earlier..." - the Glazers are a bottle with a big X on it - long may they (personally) prosper

happy - happy days!!!
