Manchester City eye £22m Yoann Gourcuff as Laurent Blanc departure pushes star towards Bordeaux exit

France playmaker Yoann Gourcuff is being monitored by Manchester City with the player's future at Bordeaux looking ever more uncertain, according to reports in his homeland.

Gourcuff, 23, was one of the major forces behind Les Girondins' progress to the Champions League quarter-finals this season. But with coach Laurent Blanc leaving his post to take over the France job from Raymond Domenech after the World Cup, Gourcuff is weighing up his options, says French newspaper L'Equipe.

Also affecting his decision could be the club's failure to qualify for Europe's top competition next year after finishing in a disappointing sixth spot in Ligue 1.

City are also unable to offer Gourcuff Champions League football next season but are understood to be one his possible destinations. He would command a fee in the region of £22m.

French champions Lyon, who knocked Bordeaux out at the quarter-final stage, are also targeting the midfielder. Arsenal may also be tempted should captain Cesc Fabregas make his much-anticipated move to Barcelona this summer.

Gourcuff has won 17 caps for France, scoring one goal, and is a member of Domenech's World Cup squad.

Didn't know if this should be posted in here or the Gourcuff thread, but since this is the transfer thread ill leave it here.

We'd get him for 50m (HALF THE FUCKING PRICE WE WERE GOING TO PAY?!!) if he was willing to come. The fans haven't taken to him and he feeds off the fans.

There are rumours going around that both us and Madrid are in for Di Maria and that we have asked for Kaka in order to let the Di Maria deal go through. It could all be a load of bollox, but its the transfer I'd love most this summer. He's exactly what we need.

No one else is gonna stump up that money, I doubt even Chelsea would.

AND it'd be a huge two fingers up to the rag press that laughed when he turned us down last time.

Please Gary, Brian and Bobby Manc - DO IT!

it would be amazing. kaka is fucking immense.

I knew those years of Latin would come in handy. That translates as:

"when seagulls to enter upon trawler , sometimes this is better when sleepily vessel. There cruoris upon a depth , nothwithstanding heat will to carry again"

Thank god for that, I thought we were going to sign someone rubbish, but now it's all clear. Is Tolmie's source Cuntano or the Pope?

Manchester City set to enter race to sign £50 Million hit man

According to the Spanish media, Manchester City are set to enter the race to sign Franck Ribery putting themselves head to head with local rivals Manchester United. Yesterday we reported that Man Utd were ready to offer £50 Million to land Ribery based on reports out of Spain and now AS the Spanish football daily have added Roberto Mancini’s side to the list of suitors for the French International.

Ribery has been the subject of much speculation with his contract running out next season and even though the Bayern Munich Chairman Karl Heinz Rummenigge has again stated that Ribery is going nowhere the probability is that he is.

Bayern will have to make a decision and fast, AS reports that both Real Madrid and Barcelona have dropped out of the race due to Ribery’s personal life and that will now force the price down, he was only ever going to be worth £50 Million in the event of an auction and that possibility is starting to dwindle.

Manchester City cannot offer Ribery Champions League football while Man Utd can and that could be a deciding factor, however it is now reported that in the absence of bids from Real Madrid and Barcelona that Sir Alex Ferguson the Man Utd manager will reevaluate his offer which in turn could let the Eastlands outfit in, confusing I know.

Mancini has a bucket load of cash to spend, problem is the big stars have to date shown zero interest in the Man City project, they cannot offer Champions League and with competition so fierce in the Premiership for Champions League qualification it is still considered taking a chance signing with City and in fact there are already rumblings in Manchester with speculation rife that the one world class talent that Man City do posses, Carlos Tevez is about to leave.

Signing Ribery would represent a coup for Mancini and it would also send out a signal to other elite players that by joining Manchester City you will be playing alongside players of the calibre of Franck Ribery.

Mate youve been taken over by bluemoon lol. No idea where this kaka talk has come from. Would he really come? Would he really be a success? Real and Barca really do amaze me. They win cups and leagues then piss about swapping there first team starters for ones at lesser clubs for more money in the hope that it pays off.

James Milner in advanced talks with us? How do we feel about this?

IMO Fabgregas will to to barca (and if the odds werent shit I'd put a bet on) And wenger will go for Gourguff.

Obviously the papers know shit, because now they link us with Ribery. Unless Cook just does whore us around any 'big name' player. I just wonder what happens if Ibra/ Gerrard etc. reject us how that impacts any back up players with the world cup etc.

When they have the picture wearing/holding the blue shirt is the only time we have signed a player end of.

If the stories are true & Mancini has given them a specific list of players which he thinks can improve us, provided the Sheikh is happy to finance it, they will almost certainly be approaching ALL of those players at the same time. Some will bite, some won't but it's not impossible Kaka/Fabregas/Torres/Villa/Ribery etc etc have all been approached. Just because many may turn us down doesn't mean we didn't try to sign them.

AC Milan are readying a bid to bring Robinho to the San Siro from Manchester City, according to a report from The Daily Mirror.

The Brazilian has been on loan at Santos in his homeland since January after a disappointing second season at Eastlands in which he struggled with injury and form.

He signed for City for a reported £35 million in 2008 but Milan are believed to be prepared to offer around half that amount.

Robinho is said to have enjoyed his spell back in Brazil, but there is no way that Santos would be able to afford his wages, believed to be around £160,000 a week.

The player's advisors are also apparently keen to see the forward back at a top European club, whilst City would reportedly like to see the player's somewhat embarrassing spell at Eastlands ended in a way that would allow them to recoup at least some of their outlay.
