It's the complete opposite in Holland. In about a week and a half my whole street and neighbourhood will be completely covered with orange flags, pennants, lion heads, you name it. Since about a month back almost all stores have campaigns where you get crazy orange hats, t-shirts or horns for free or for a reduced price if when buying something (or when saving enough bonus points). The days Holland are playing 75% of the population will be wearing orange. if you're in a pub 95%.

How patriotic are Swedes in comparison to the English or the Dutch? I love looking at pictures of Dutch Football Fans all dressed up!

The Swedes who actually go to the tournaments all act crazy and dress up. At home everyone is very interested and watch all games, but it's not the carnival atmosphere you have here in Holland.

Roght. one of my best mates owns a bar. he goes regularly to something called "pubwatch" where local licencees meet with councillors and senior police officers to discuss the running of boozers.

i asked him earlier, and he has heard sweet fuck all about this.

now, how long is it till the start of the WC? Three weeks? If this claim is true, i am pretty fucking certain all pub landlords would have had to have been well in the loop about the ban - how else would they have a hope in hell of enforcing it otherwise?

and anyone who thinks this is truthful, remember which paper it originated from - how much of the bullshit the Sun writes about City do you beleive?

Yeah i think the title of this thread is bullshit but my time in bars on st georges day we was told to tone it down on the decorations etc but on st paddys day we dressed the pub green. But oh well im not that bothered i dont have a problem with pubs banning the england shirt because if i owned a pub and england get knocked out on a dodgy decision and you got a few hundred pissed off england fans i dont want my pub trashing.

But im sure manchester will be showing all the england games on the big screens?????

Id like to go into town get pissed and have a sing song and hopefully be apart of something special. I do believe alot of pubs will quitely say nop to big groups of england fans in england shirts whether the landlords say so or not. But wearing your england shirt outside watching the big screens if they tried it would be over my dead body.

reckon the charming visit of rangers, as well as the last WC will have put paid to any big screens in the city centre. bit of a shame, but you can see why the council may not risk it.

Its a joke if they dont do it, they need to make sure its policed properly then! and make sure the screens work. I dont want to be sitting at home watching the games on tv.

Pubs that usually show football games on tv & allow people in with football shirts on, will also allow people to do the same with England shirts on.

Pubs that don't allow people in with football shirts on will probably continue in the same way & stop people from coming in. That's fair enough as some people don't like football or football supporters (& particularly don't like fucking students with cockney fucking accents & their stupid fucking shitferbrains girlfriends, who normally don't give a toss about football but support Maaan uu, suddenly becoming football experts & loudly gobbing off clueless shite comments down yer fucking earhole while you're trying to watch England on tv) ..... err that bit was nowt to do with it really but they make me piss.

Anyway in short, nothing will change whatsoever & it's a load of old bollocks designed to wind people up.

From what I'm seeing things will change, and that's peoples resolve. We usually put a huge Union Jack out of the loft window (my choice not hers) but this time she wants the English Flag. Why? Because she's threaders with all the bullshit!
