..if the munes enter the race...?

So they will not offer AVL anything like as much as we would - and they hold his registration

And they will not more than double his current salary - which we would!!

Yeah - its a no-brainer - but not the way you think

Well I'm just thinking it has some echoes of the Rooney situation when Newcastle were the first ones to bid - I suppose the big difference is they weren't offering very much more money than United like we obviously will now. He'll already be on good wages, if United offer to up it slightly I'll bet he chooses them over us.

It's obvious why we are going after Milner and it's this new rule that started this year. He is home grown so his value went up this season. All players that are considered honme grown or whatever you call it in the new prem rules values shot up soon as the window opened and we are gonna have to get used to seeing players like Milner going for more than maybe a slightly better player from say Spain.. This is also the reason why we probably have chosen to keep hold of SWP but I doubt we gave into his contract demands.

Barca: Ibrahimovic not for sale

Barcelona president Joan Laporta has reiterated potential Manchester City target Zlatan Ibrahimovic has a future at the Nou Camp despite the impending arrival of David Villa.

Ibrahimovic joined Barca last summer in a deal that saw Inter Milan get 46 million euros plus Samuel Eto’o (valued at 20 million euros) in exchange for the giant Swede, but the former Ajax and Juventus hitman has had a mixed first season with the Catalan giants.

He scored 16 league goals as Barca defended their Primera Division title but he also came in for criticism from some quarters.

Barca have now strengthened their striking options for next season after agreeing a 40million euros deal for Spain star Villa, who is set to undergo a medical and complete his move from Valencia tomorrow.

However, that does not mean the exit door is now open for Ibrahimovic, with Laporta saying: “Ibra is not for sale. He is a very highly-valued player, and I know the coaches count on him. The signing of Villa does not affect the future of Ibra.”

Meanwhile, the Blues are also being linked with Argentina Under-20 international Ezequiel Munoz, of Boca Juniors.

The 20-year-old central defender has been pursued by Italian outfit Fiorentina for a year.

Real Madrid panic over £17m David Silva as Manchester City and Arsenal wait to pounce

Real Madrid want to rush through a deal for David Silva because of fears that Manchester City and Arsenal will enter the race for the Valencia midfielder.

The Bernabeu giants believe they are close to a £17million deal and want the business wrapped up in the next few days to prevent them being usurped by interest from the Barclays Premier League.

It has been speculated that Manchester United will renew their interest, while Liverpool were also keen to do a deal last year, but Madrid's biggest fears come from moneybags City and an Arsenal side that are looking at potential successors to Cesc Fabregas.

Although versatile Silva tends to be more affective from wider positions, he would provide a creative spark lost if Fabregas leaves for Barcelona, which will fill the coffers of Arsenal.

City have the cash to swoop now, though their move for Aston Villa's James Milner is taking priority.

Silva had another impressive season, scoring 10 goals and making 12 assists in 36 appearances, but the 24-year-old is tipped to be the next out of cash-strapped Valencia following David Villa's move to Barcelona.

thank god for that.. maybe now we can shut up about him.
Laporta and Guardiola don't really have too many options here, they took a gamble on Ibra in a big deal, so they really have to give him another season in the hope it pays off.

we should go for bojan instead then. younger and he is fucking quality. would be cheaper as well.

theres no way they will be able to keep bojan, ibra, villa and pedro happy. dont they usually play one main striker?

Here's an interesting tidbit:

http://www.goal.com/en-india/news/222/t ... -and-italy

Followed this guy quit a bit when he was at Villareal... is a good striker not a world beater though. Very fast and great ball control.
Plays for the Italian national team and I am sure that Mancini is high on him....

NOTE: Rossi was born in the US in New Jersey but chose to play for Italy when he went overseas. It pissed off a lot of people
over here and some Americans were very bitter about that. He considers himself American off the field and Italian on. No problem.
That's perfectly fine and I understand his decision. But I do not look on him as a Yankee overseas.

I know he didn't make much of an impression there and they let him go; but I know after he turned himself around in La Liga, the Scum were kicking themselves. He speaks several languages and I don't think getting him acclimated to the PL would be too hard. He may have a problem with being a second striker.

But you know I really don't care if we sign him or not: like I said, I only know about him because he is still a US citizen. But I don't consider him one but respect his ability.

Robinho keen for Santos stay

Manchester City's record signing Robinho has revealed he has no desire to return to Eastlands next season.

The 26-year-old was signed on loan by his former club Santos in January after a turbulent 18 months at City, where he had arrived for a British record of £32.5million.

The Brazilian shone during his debut season at Eastlands but became increasingly disillusioned with the club after former manager Mark Hughes axed compatriots Jo and Elano.

He has enjoyed more success in Brazil, scoring the crucial goal against Gremio to book his side a spot in the Brazilian Cup final later this year.

The second leg against Vitoria is on August 4, the day after Robinho's loan contract is set to expire.

But despite there being no chance of Santos being able to afford the fee City would want for the forward, Robinho is adamant he wants to stay in his homeland and explore all of his available options after competing in the World Cup this summer.

He said: "I will return to Brazil after the World Cup and, God willing, I will stay to play in the Copa Libertadores (in 2011)."

http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11095_6165066,00.html

I really hope he never plays for us again, since moving on loan all he's done is shown us a total lack of respect.

If he's that keen to stay, why doesn't he pay the transfer fee himself. He can afford it.

didnt get much of a chance at newcastle.

In the few chances he got at the scum he did fairly well. Bacon was very keen as he but a buy back clause in the contract when they sold him to villareal. I suspect he'd consider if if they had the money.

City move for Cavani

Cracking player, would really shine here imo, he's really blossomed into a top player at palermo this season. Defo a Bobby Manc target though!

Ibrahimovic has been offered to Real Madrid, who appear to have rejected any deal at the moment.

This would appear to indicate Barca are desperate to sell, and realistically only a handful of clubs could afford him. Us, Chelsea, Real, Inter and maybe Bayern, (if they had a big fee written into Ribery's new contract and sold him).

We should offer a swap for Robinho play Ibra up front with Ade and play Tevez in a more attacking midfield type role. That would be a threatening front line.
