Let us know how you get on.

So far, it's been acquaintances and neighbours of people that this has happened to, which I'm disinclined to believe. Asthis thread shows, even seemingly first-hand sources may have become severely distorted.

No smoke without fire right?

There have been posts on this very thread that have given proof of the police ASKING tenents to "tone down" "take down" flags ect so its not all bolloks mate.

As for taking people to court over displaying flags ect............Hilarious....that will never happen and if it did I would be disgusted beyond belief.

I'm not saying it doesn't happen, I just don't 100% believe the stories people are saying on here. The second someone says that it has happened to themselves, as opposed to a neighbour/friend/acquaintance, I'll think it's more credible.

On the court side, it can hypothetically happen. A pub in Reading I used to frequent can't put promotional material (ie flags and banners) up outside, as it's in a Conservation Area. If they put a flag up, they could risk being taken to court. This isn't a 'one off' scenario- there's a hell of a lot more Conservation Areas than you'd think- Bradford alone has over 60.

I think people/wankers are deliberately making up stories to try & get a suitable reaction from otherwise normal people & it's working particularly on people who don't actually live here.

The motives behind this are quite obvious & it stinks. I've seen plenty of cars & houses already flying the George cross & the World Cup doesn't even start for 3 fucking weeks.

Google it & see what kind of websites are pushing this bullshit & then ask yourselves the question whether you really want to help them propogate this intentionally devisive fucking tripe.

The ultimate irony with the whole 'Flag of St George' thing is that he was most likely a Palestinian (and certainly a 'foreigner')

I'm English and find the 'flying' of nylon George crosses on residential property aesthetically displeasing. Forward me the name and address of this neighbour of yours and I will begin proceedings. If she retaliates with further displays of tasteless nationalism I'll pop round with lighter fluid and some matches.

After tonight I think milner, baines and carrick should be banned from wearing England shirts during the world cup. The void left by the players they replaced was enormous and personally from Citys point of view I would not be happy spending £30m on a poor lampard. Or am I wrong?

Milner looked better in the second half when we switched to a 4-4-2, I suspect it was how we were trying to play in the first half that was the problem more than the players on the pitch.

What a really excites me about this is that hooligans are going to be yellow carded by police out on the street. I can't wait to see fat middle-aged bald men diving on the pavement, rolling about in agony and kneeling down, hands joined and pointing skywards in prayer for the policeman to be lenient with them.

Comedy gold :D

Here’s a question for you Vhero, and anyone else flying the flag this month.

Why just this month? Why not the whole year round. Surely if the flag was proudly on display all year round there wouldn’t be any fuss about the flag’s being out for the world cup.

Of course we would, We would have also sold our allocation of tickets unlike some.

My point was nothing to do with Scotland where you will see flags flying all year round, it's also home to many foriegners . Just sitting at my desk now in Wellington I can see two Kiwi flags flying on the street.

So instead of generalisations and insults perhaps answer the question. Why not be proud of being English all year round and not just for a few weeks every two years.

Saw in a paper today that the Met have come out and said that the banning of flags/wearing colours/kicking people in the face cos they don't live on your street is in fact a myth. Well, the first two anyway.

It also confirmed that the Croydon police have issued guidelines to try and deter potential trouble, including not having football tops in pubs during games.

Urban Myth confirmation of uwe's_skyblue_duvet story B*ll*x
Police: England football shirt pub ban is a myth
Football fans can breathe a sigh of relief after police quashed rumours of a possible ban on wearing England shirts in pubs during the World Cup.
Image
Fans in England shirts at Wembley before the England v Mexico game ..Forces also moved to dismiss suggestions that flags bearing a St George’s Cross could also be outlawed.
Speculation started in March after the Met issued advice to pubs in Croydon, south London, suggesting ‘dress code restrictions – eg no football shirts’ in pubs screening matches.
A group called I Am Against The Ban On England Shirts During The World Cup amassed more than 60,000 supporters in response to the possible crackdown.
But yesterday a Met Police spokesman said: ‘Licensees are not obliged to follow our advice and there is no policy to stop the wearing of England shirts.’
Insp Howard Lewis-Jones, of West Midlands Police, said: ‘It is nonsense. Officers are football fans too and patriotism should be an important part of enjoying the tournament in a fun atmosphere as long as people are sensible.’
He also said talk of a directive stating pubs should not be adorned with England flags was an ‘urban myth’.
A spokesman for the British Beer and Pub Association said: ‘It’s good to see that common sense has prevailed.’
The Football Supporters Federation said the clarification came as a ‘relief’.
