He wasn't telling the press, he was telling Madrid to get the finger out.

Also, what is a good enough reason to postpone negotiating for David Silva? I can't think of one off hand. What we did with Palacios in order to get a free run for Bellamy is what goes on all the time IMO and its going on right now.

If I was to hazard a guess, I'd say its something along the lines of us wanting Higuain, Madrid not wanting to sell, so we make a move on Silva who Madrid want... knowing that city even entering talks will push his price up.

I'd LOVE to just watch one full transfer take place. There's so much more to it than we'll ever know.

I just think its Cookie Monster fucking things up as he probably insists on being there for all transfers which is fair enough but he doesn't know who to go for first. They are using the situation though to let the world know Silva is available and somebody interested so they better hurry there arses up if they plan on putting a bid in. We just better hope nobody bigger like Real comes in with a bid now for Silva or we won't get him.

Maybe, but Real are the ones being told here Vhero, make no bones about it.

Maybe its so that we can get Di Maria, I really don't know, but its all politics, not simply Cook's being disorganised.

Do you honestly think we're being run by mugs and that Khaldon would allow Cook to go around fucking things up, I know its boring without any footy, but you need to take yourself outtside and have a word with yourself.

I would put a slightly different slant on it.....

1) Valencia's reason for selling Silva and Villa is because they need money

2) The best way to get the maximum amount is to have a bidding war

3) Few clubs would get involved with CITY - with RM being one

4) Valencia would get the most money from CITY - but only if RM are involved as well.........

5) Putting CL to one side - players like Dzeko and Silva might well buy into CITY once we are talking to them direct

It is not in Valencia's interest to do this quietly

"So you disagree with vhero? Interesting. "

I am not wanting to particularly disagree with Vhero (anyone) but I do think things get looked at a bit black and white - and there is an inclination to 'apportion blame' - even when there is none to apportion perhaps

On Cook - I would say that a lot of posters get focused on his 'gaffes' - and whilst they are regrettable - for me the success of his role in growing revenues / markets etc is what will make CITY successful (or not) for a generation - so I look at his success there rather than any clumsy language (that said I applaud his 'bottling' comment - why the fuck should we let some twat tell lies to our detriment - fuck 'em - glad he has the balls to face twats down)

There is talk about Cook about to be 'rewarded' with a new long term deal - so people I respect hughely (the owners and Khaldoon) must have confidence and they do not seem to be people that reward failure

Everton defender John Heitinga claims he has been made aware of interest from Manchester City.

The Dutchman only arrived in English football last summer, joining the Toffees from Atletico Madrid.

He settled quickly into Premier League life and was a mainstay in David Moyes' plans throughout the 2009/10 campaign.

Able to operate at centre-half or as a holding midfielder, his versatility marks him out as a useful member of any squad.

His considerable ability has not been lost on City, who are prepared to spend big on new additions this summer.

Heitinga admits he has ambitions of joining a club fighting for top honours, which the Blues hope to be in the near future, but insists he is happy at Goodison Park for now.
Focus

He penned a long-term contract upon his arrival on Merseyside in 2009 and insists he has no intention of breaking that agreement any time soon.

"I have heard the reports, but nothing is serious as yet," Heitinga told De Telegraaf.

"City have ambitions and I am always looking to move to a bigger club.

"But I have a contract for four years, without any get-out clause in it, so I will fully focus myself on Everton. I am very happy at this club."

Heitinga is currently away with the Dutch national side preparing for this summer's World Cup finals.

I know Mancini loves his holding midfielders but oh my word are we being linked to every one?

He's more of a defender than a holding midfielder! I'd take him, think he's a very good player! I'm sure Fidel will disagree tho ;)

Zlatan Ibrahimovic's agent has raised questions over his client's future at Barcelona and maintained that English football would interest the Swedish striker.

Ibrahimovic was signed by Pep Guardiola from Inter Milan for around 40 million euros plus Samuel Eto'o in the summer, but with the club now having splashed another 40 million euros on David Villa, speculation that Ibrahimovic will leave has intensified with Manchester City and Chelsea closely linked to him.

The striker has banged in 20 goals in 41 appearances for his new club and agent Mino Raiola told Spanish radio station, COM Radio that "Guardiola should go to a mental hospital" if he doesn't start the Swede.

Raiola also fuelled talk of a move to England, saying: "Ibrahimovic has never thought that Barca will be his last club, he is like Mourinho, and if you can win everything with Barca you need a new challenge.

"English football may be of interest, because it would be a great test. Everything depends on the club."

According to the Portugese media, Benfica's star striker Oscar Cardozo wants a transfer, with Manchester City in pole position for his signature.

The 26 year-old has just completed his third season with the Portugese giants. He has impressed this season in particular, scoring a remarkable 36 goals in 42 games so far. Cardozo also caught the eye during Benfica's Europa League campaign.

Cardozo has been linked to Manchester City before, where he would link up with fellow Paraguayan Roque Santa Cruz .

During a press conference with the Paraguayan squad, Cardozo apparently admitted that he was open to a new challenge for next season. According to Portugese daily Abola, he hinted that his future is far from certain, saying that "My future depends on Benfica, who have the possibility to decide."

Radio e Televisao Portugal reported that Cardozo had set his sights on a move to another European club, with Manchester City a potential destination.

At 6ft 3in, Cardozo would provide a physical boost to Roberto Mancini's attack at Eastlands. In addition to his strength in the air, he also possesses a good touch and is particularly dangerous from free-kicks.

Cardozo has scored three goals in 29 internationals and is set to star in the upcoming World Cup.

A lot better than Santa Cruz.

Portuguese league is THE easiest to score at in Europe. Especially as the only few decent defenders play in Benfica.

Oh, and "linking up with Santa Cruz" must be some top joke in Parguayan squad.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

All aboard the money train, I hope he wants to come for the right reason, and not just the money. Hopefully the club starts these players on a basic wage with big incentives added on. Adebayor, lost interest late in the season, and we cant have this happening again.

Tap ins, point blank headers and penalties...oh and one freekick, the guy is MAGIC. Maybe we should be more concerned with signing the guys to supply the crosses and passes that this guy needs and we could bring back fuckign Benjani to put them away.

It kind of depends. I think he is the best realistic option out there. So basically when you are looking at the transfer fee, you would have to think whether you are ready to fork out that sort of money for him or settle for lesser player for lesser money. Concentrating on below 20m mark strikers we'd be looking at another Jo or Santa Cruz or someone like that.

Anyway, I think we are trying to negotiate that transfer fee.....if we were willing to pay that, he'd already be here.
