Whilst I know he's a midfielder, if they get Fabregas and Mata, that must mean Toure and one other is departing surely??

Mata is a winger/second striker mate.

Cheers Fidel. I read a report about him in World Soccer a while ago, but wasn't sure where he played

So my take is they wont necessarily offload any midfielders as a result of drafting a couple in. That said Yaya is the player yet to prove his consistency and looks like the weak link, so i wouldn't be surprised to see him move on.

People keep talking about Yaya and yes, he is quality player imo BUT NOT what we need. Unless we are going to sell Nigel, Which I don't think will happen.

well i dont talk about Yaya.. he is way too inconsistent, often misplacing passes and finding himself in the wrong place. He also slows the game down considerably. i dont like him at all and would hate for us to even consider him.

why do people keep saying that? when mancio wants to play 3 defensive midfielders, one of zabba, kompany or sylvinho has to deputize, non of which are particularly suited to the role apart from Kompany who should be one of our CB's
Nigel is ok but should only be a squad player until he learns to contribute to attacks more imo

there is a link on the BBC squad news update that RM are going to offer £95m for Shrek!

Not sure how reliable www. caughtoffside.com can be on matters like this but I cant see Mourinho going for this. Woudn't be surprised to see him go for one or two of the Chelsea team, Drigba, Lampard, Essien maybe but Shrek for 95m..... gotta be bollocks.

Wolfsburg have stated that Dzeko is staying at the club and that they have received No official offer for the player.

Anyone disappointed?

Would prefer him to Cardozo who we have been linked with, but would prefer Higuain to both of them.

Me too mate. We already have 2 big centre forwards and I'd like to see a goal poacher/all out striker (similar to Shearer, Torres or Horseface). No more strikers required after that but a creative midfielder and possible right and left backs for either cover or first choice. I'd be quite happy with that.

I am thinking three players, leftback, attacking midfielder and left sided forward/winger.

I think Lescott/Kompany will be our main pairing next season and I am hoping between Toure, Onuoha, Zabaleta and Richards we can get one of them to claim that right back spot on a permanent basis.

Bridge is okay at left back, but I really think we can get better, noticed us with a random bollox link to Vargas who I think is a good choice and Garrido is never going to be the left back we need and not quick or tricky enough to move into midfield.

Attacking midfielder is obvious, only Stevie and possibly Johnno in that spot and one is a moody fucker and the other a crocked boozer. We need real quality here as we have seen in the england game that position has become the fulcrum for so many clubs.

Left sided forward as competition and backup for Bellamy who I would not like to bet on his knees lasting a possible 60 game season, if Jinky moves left then we need someone on the right as SWP would need competition and is a player who can really go off the boil.

Strikers, I would like better rotation than Tevez, Adebayor and RSC. I think RSC is not coming good and while he hasn't had a decent run, it's hard to see when he would be likely to, so maybe a player who can switch left wing and make an impact as a striker without needing a half dozen games to get up to speed.

I hope Boj comes back to us, and gets a good run in the preseason. Even when he was rusty as fewk last preseason he still knew where the goal was during the half game I saw him play - ok he missed it but he knew where it was (and got himself into the right position to be able to try the shot)

For me, he would be a very decent second choice to Higuain (who is not for sale)

Further to this I agree we need some more key players in the squad

Higuain or Dzeko
Milner
Silva
Gago or Yaya Toure (personally I would prefer gago as he is more box to box and really impressed me in the last few months of the season)
Boateng for RB
a left back.. who I don't know as it seems to be a real worldwide draught of class left backs at the moment
We've been linked to all of them and they are the sort of class and quality that we need to add to what we already have to mount a serious challenge for the title next season

Well I DO hope we aren't going to go three defensive midfielder formation in the future, unless there's ten minutes go and we are two goals ahead.

I'd have Toure over De Jong as he seriously slows our play imo but I don't think that change is going to happen this summer.

What we need is a playmaker.. Preferably someone who can work in attack and to some extent in defence. I'd settle for creative attacking player though.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

Anybody else thinking we aren't gonna sign anybody before the world cup now? Then most likely we will sign somebody who will be fantastic in the world cup so we will pay out of our arses and he will turn to shit in a city shirt?

Barcelona have insisted they won't stand in the way of Manchester City targets Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Yaya Toure if they want to move.

Ivorian midfielder Toure has been tipped to join brother Kolo at Eastlands after failing to cement his place in the Barcelona starting line-up last season.

Despite his 22 goal haul in his debut season at Camp Nou Ibrahimovic has been linked with a move away, while Barcelona have been less than impressed by comments made by his agent and hinted the Swedish star would be sold if his position became untenable.

City boss Roberto Mancini has been linked with a 75million euro swoop on the Barca pair, having worked with Ibrahimovic while manager of Inter Milan, and the Catalan giants have now admitted both players could move on in the summer, although they are not looking to sell.

"Yaya Toure's case is similar to Ibrahimovic, although Yaya has been with the club for a longer period. We are not interested in offloading either of these players but obviously if Toure isn't happy we won't force him to stay," Barcelona's director general Joan Oliver told the Spanish outfit's official website.

"What we won't do is go against our own interests. If he wants to stay, we'll be delighted. If not, then the solution must also be good for the club, not just the player."

If you could pick two players from Barcelona I'd have to say they would be probably not even in my first 10 picks.

Ibra has flourished under Mancini in the past and Toure would be a better partner to Barry than Nigel

That said however, 100 million for those 2? No.. even if we can afford it, just no.

Ibra isn't that much different to Ade and Toure is the same with Nigel - they are slightly better quality players but they really don't offer a huge amount more than de jong and adebayour

transfers are so old fashioned. it's a relic of the Aughties. i prefer getting something from what we have already if i am honest. We've got bags and bags of talent, don't we? We're the 2nd best team in the Prem on paper imho. Unfortunately for us you kick the ball and things change.
