***Transfer Rumours Thread*** [ALL RUMOUR TOPICS MERGED]

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

They mention rating him similar to Fabregas (who they offered 35 million euros for) - LOL. The link suggests they want us to fund this bid somewhat. If we refuse they might, just might, come back accepting the lower figure.

Then there's still the possibility of Ibrahimovic who, despite talk to the contrary, will be like a bacon sandwich at a Jewish wedding with Villa there. Lots of talking to be done yet this summer.

Well if they already got player of Fabregas' quality then why bother bidding for another?!?!?

That is the most laughable thing I've heard in a while. Like I said, I rate Toure as holding midfielder but he isn't fit to lick shit of Fabregas' boots.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

Yaya Toure is really good player but nothing like 35m player. And holding midfielder isn't position of urgent need. I'd approve us going all desperate over that playmaker we need but right now we've mostly been linked to overpaying for players we don't desperately need.

Yaya Toure isn't only a defensive midfielder, he's more like a young Vieira IMO. The only reason he was holding at Barca is because of Iniesta and Xavi.

That said, the NQDP cunt is right - Toure is worth about half of what Fabregas is worth, so they can fucking swing for 35m.

they should fuck off then.

i read somewhere, can't recall the sauce, that we've bid 20M Euro for Dani Alves, which must be complete horseshit. if Toure's worth 35M in their minds i'm sure they'd rate Alves at 40 or 50M.

We won't likely be doing any business with them in this window at those prices i don't believe. Which is fine.

i'd just like a couple players signed before the WC as Mancini hoped to do.

cheers

Quoting myself here, but i believe we're allegedly "bidding" for Dani Alves or threatening to bid for him so that Barca back the fucl off that Dutch fullback we fancy...whom Barca are also chasing, Gergory van der Wiel. I wonder if that's the case.

cheers

Well, I heard it a month and a day ago, so there ;-)

Not really news as he isn't even ours until the European transfer window opens.

I don't know if this has been posted but this story just seems wierd. We know Joe Cole is out for the money and I'm not sure if Arsenal would want to break their wages policy(and Arsene wouldn't be able to fiddle with him) and could United afford him, especially considering they are getting players in for peanuts. On top of that, Ole 'Arry stated that he enquired but seemed to think he had already been signed up by another club (I'm thinking Tevez). Not sure what to think about this because at the time when 'Arry said it, I truly believed it was us and was only dissuaded by the fact he was linked with the likes of Arsenal and United, then plumped for Arsenal as I didn't think he wanted to move up north.
United and Arsenal to miss out on Joe Cole capture

Soccernet understands that Arsenal and Manchester will lose out on signing Chelsea midfielder Joe Cole on a free transfer, while Manchester City and Tottenham remain firmly in the hunt for his signature.

Speculation has continued to mount over Cole's future, and he seems certain to leave Stamford Bridge as talks over a new contact stalled before he set off for South Africa after making Fabio Capello's final England squad.

Spurs, Arsenal, United and City have all been linked with a move for Cole, though it appears that Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger are unlikely to have the midfielder at their disposal next season.

A source close to the transfer activity told Soccernet: "My information is that Joe Cole will not be going to Arsenal or to Manchester United, despite being linked with both of these clubs. Joe Cole has a few options, and has not made up his mind, and will do so when he returns from South Africa. It is still possible that he could decide to stay at Chelsea but that is only a small chance."

The source refused to rule out Spurs and Man City and, while Roberto Mancini's club can offer big bucks, Harry Redknapp has the lure of Champions League football for Cole, and that could be the deciding factor.

Redknapp has made it clear that he isn't looking to make a large number of signings, but instead wants one or two outstanding new players to reinforce Spurs' chances of making it past the qualifying stage of the Champions League. And it was Redknapp that gave Cole his debut in the Premier League when they were both at West Ham United.

Cole would be happy to stay at Chelsea, but the club have thus far shown no willingness to improve the contract offer which is still on the table.

With Cole available on a free, his advisors argue that his value in the open transfer market could be £18 million to £20 million, a huge saving for any prospective new club, which would justify an inflated wage packet.

It's all over the news in Greece that Benfica has made a ten mil offer to Panathinaikos for Leto (Left midfielder/winger-used to be on
the Liverpool roster 3 years ago). News sources in Greece claim that's because Real have themselves made an offer to Benfica for Di Maria. I know, Silva can play anywhere in midfield but primarily he plays on the left so I'd doubt Real will be in for Silva too.

Alonso and Gerrard are box-to-box midfielders. Toure is best used as holding midfielder behind actual playmaker. Just because he can pass and shoot doesn't make him box-to -box player.
