Yaya Toure is really good player but nothing like 35m player. And holding midfielder isn't position of urgent need. I'd approve us going all desperate over that playmaker we need but right now we've mostly been linked to overpaying for players we don't desperately need.

yaya is more of a box to box player rather than a dm, but i see your point, but he is better than de jong, all you can do is buy beter than what we have got

Alonso and Gerrard are box-to-box midfielders. Toure is best used as holding midfielder behind actual playmaker. Just because he can pass and shoot doesn't make him box-to -box player.

No, but being stuck behind Iniesta and Xavi and pigeon holed into that defensice role doesn't mean he isn't.

But the fact that I have never seen him used in Steven Gerrard/Cesc Fabregas role in either Monaco or Barcelona kind of makes him holding midfielder. I'm not calling him defensive midfielder. That for me would be someone like De Jong who offers nothing going forward.

Yaya is great at breaking play and can turn defensive situations into attacks but isn't for me prolificly someone who creates chances of scores goals. I don't know whether Mancini thinks he can transform Yaya into that role but right now I feel we need proper creator more than Yaya.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

SS Lazio chairman Lotito want to sign Roque Sant Cruz and yesterday conctacted his father in Paraguay! It means that we will sign very soon Alexander Kolarov. Who is this guy?
Here's some further news:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aleksandar_Kolarov

I signed him on FM for Sampdoria - he's a good attacking left back (on the game anyway!)

That Robinho fella is brilliant on that game. We ought to sign him. Oops, hang on a minute......................

Exactly why I said, "on the game anyway" ;)

According to MEN he's on our list

Boca Juniors defender Ezequiel Munoz is interesting Manchester City.

The Manchester Evening News says City are being linked with Argentina Under-20 international Munoz. The 20-year-old central defender has been pursued by Italian outfit Fiorentina for a year.

However, Buenos Aries sources say City have made contact with Boca and are discussing a fee with the Argentine giants for Munoz.

Roque Santa Cruz offered escape from Manchester City by Marseille

French champions Marseille are ready to take unwanted Roque Santa Cruz off Manchester City’s hands after watching the striker in action for Paraguay.

Marseille coach Franck Passi was in the stands taking notes as Santa Cruz, 28, starred for Paraguay as they beat Greece 2-0 in a World Cup warm-up match in Switzerland.

Marseille boss Didier Deschamps wants to launch an assault on the Champions League next season but only has a budget of £14million to play with. City will be prepared to let Santa Cruz go a cut-price £8m.

Take or leave it for Milner at 27M according to the fuclin [strike]Sun[/strike] Daily Star.

http://www.dailystar.co.uk/football/vie ... es-Milner/

MANCHESTER CITY will make a final £27m bid for James Milner in the hope of luring the England star to Eastlands.

Roberto Mancini has already seen a £20m offer rejected by Aston Villa, who are holding out for £30m for the
former Leeds and Newcastle midfielder.

Mancini is desperate to add Milner to his squad for next season and believes he could be instrumental in helping
his side get into the Champions League. But he is not prepared to go higher than £27m and will tell Villa to accept this price or forget about a deal.

Ho Hum.

cheers

EDIT: also, Manini is on a beach with a swank new haircut rubbing sunscreen on his wife's fake titties. He doesn't give a fucl what we pay for Milner.

Isn't it OK if they're young enough? Dunno.

On this Robson for Barca story I cant believe we can use him as a bargaining chip. When he was mentioned last window, although Laporta would want him (of course) Guadiola put his foot down and said 'no way on this earth', sort of thing. He regards him as a troublemaker, a bad effect on morale, someone who shoots his mouth off too much, and doesn't have a set position.

Can't think why.

Hard to believe that one isn't it?

Barrios must be one of the few people in history to have 'gained Paraguayan citizenship'.

I'd be happy if this was true. His goalscoring record in South America is incredible but I was a bit sceptical when Dortmund signed him. But after watching him last season, I'm convinced he can make it at the top level. Maybe just a bit too similar to Tevez though

yeah, it really sucked for the filth to have both Rooney and Tevez in the same vein. they didn't win much together...

i see your point, and i know fuckall about the player in question, but i'd have 11 Tevezes on the pitch if i could. Eee-levven. Fuck positions, and the first cockface that responds with "you'd field 11 strikers? that's insane" etc...is missing the point.

I remember he played against us for Olympiakos a few years ago in a friendly and pretty much played as a playmaker and ran the game.

I don't personally think that he is similar to Tevez. He is around 6ft tall, and pretty good in the air. Interestingly, he will probably start for Paraguay with Roque dropping a little deeper, in more of a link up role.
