I disagree..if you look at the way the Market is for British players..let alone internationals..coupled with the fact we are city so throw a couple of mil on top..the price is about right..

Plus he's actually a very good player..

Remember Robinho cost 32 mil

even worse Jo cost 18 haha

28 mil seems overpriced.
but they are guessing.

26 mil would seem overpriced.. but then somehow it seems acceptable on the basis everyone was saying he was worth 20 odd million.
i think that a combination of home grown rule and the extra competition in the top 8 prem teams is pushing prices up for players going up.. sort of in the way that there are only so many younger top players and more teams they could potentially go to.

Apart from the price, i'd be delighted if this actually happened. i like Milner and i think he can improve with City

The English and City premium is bound to add a few million on the price tag so i think we have got a good deal really considering the new rules being implemented.

Yeah i agree.

Sure teams are adding a few mill because it's City i would to if it was one of my players, but at the end of the day we are getting a very very good player.

I don't think City should be afraid to spend big money on great players.

However this guy is far from great.

Agreed, I am really having a hard time seeing Milner as some fantastic player who will solve all our problems and would prefer to have an attacking midfielder of a higher calibre and consistency.

But he might be!

I just wonder, has Mancio been watching this lad and coveted his services, because as I see it, he did absolutely nothing when he played us under Mancio?

It does beg the question, doesn't it?

PS. Is that why he's been bedded down for a couple of days?

I was thinking the same thing, two day's out from training and now we close to signing him seems a bit too coincidental to me.

I am fairly certain that he wouldn't jeopardise his world cup preparations for a contract signing, and if he would, would we want that sort of player?

Or Vieira, de Jong, Barry and Milner in the slowest midfield ever assembled feeding Ibra and Ade in the laziest forward line ever assembled. Maybe we should go to the midget leagues and get a new backline, then we could be a right fucking circus.

I too have aften been sometimes underwhelmed by him. But then in some matches he really does seem to be outstanding, and is raved about by so many that I think he must be worth having. Definitely stood out on his own in that U21 tournament last year.

He ticks a lot of boxes as he is English and young, and can play all across the midfield. As it is now definitely a squad game there will be games that suit him and those that don't, and I fancy our midfield will get rotated a fair bit next season.

Value is not for discussion really - it's the balance of what one club wants as against what another is prepared to pay to get the player. Current market value.

All in all a good aquisition I reckon.

If true...Good signing, good player...I only see him as part of the MF jigsaw and reckon we still have a bigger signing to come on board.

Arsenal insist they DON'T want England star

Tottenham, Liverpool, Manchester United, Juventus and Manchester City are all keen on Joe Cole who will become a free agent after his contract expires on June 30.

The former Chelsea star insists he will decide after the World Cup but Spurs boss Redknapp, on Talksport, said yesterday: "He's told us that he hasn't decided anything yet and he hasn't done anything definite.

"So there's a chance. I suppose it all depends on the financial side of it and everything else, but according to his agent, hes not made up his mind yet.

"I think that Daniel [Levy], the chairman, has spoken to Joe's agent and he said that Joe didn't want to discuss any moves until after the World Cup. Then he's going to look at his options."

But Arsenal are NOT interested in signing Cole. Mirror Sport understands Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger believes he already has enough midfielders of the same style.

Arsenal chairman Peter Hill-Wood confirmed: "I had a long conversation with (chief executive) Ivan Gazidis, who had been with Arsene (Wenger) and his name never came up at all."

Chelsea confirmed yesterday that Cole and Michael Ballack will be released along with Juliano Belletti. Portugese midfielder Deco is also set to join Fluminese.

If he hasn't decided where he's going i definitely think we should get in there with a big wage and blow the rest out of the water.

Well at least he can cross the ball!!! :D

I don't care too much about the price as long as he provides added value to the team. After paying 24m for Lescott, I never thought it would be any less than that.

If he signs before the WC starts then the England squad will have Hart, Barry, SWP and Milner involved. Lescott would have too if he hadn't been injured and Bridge I guess.

I think you are both right. Milner is one season wonder I believe and in completely different kind of environment I fear he'd flop badly.

We need someone with a football brain, Milner has none.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?
