Selling one of you best players is not the best thing to be doing when you've just had one of the worst seasons in a long time.

Unless your broke and managerless, with owners out to bleed you dry, oops.

Your best plan is to sell the 3 best attacking players that you have to make a big profit and then sell the club to the highest bidder, who will have to build the new stadium that you promised and never delivered just to make a dent in the operational costs and start to build you back up to a title contender. That, and make Carragher player/manager, cause that would be really funny.

Hmm - here's the key to all our hanging about:

"....after the English execs have finished the round of consulting with the big European clubs to assess the real situation of the football market."

después que los ejecutivos ingleses hayan cerrado toda la rueda de consultas con los grandes clubs europeos para calibrar la situación real del mercado futbolístico

So there may be some truth in this 'scattergun approach'. We are talking to everyone at the same time and then we close on the best players we are able to get, depending on price, whether the club will sell, whether the player wants to move and where he wants to move etc.

I hate the way the press have to put everything we do down, 'Manchester City bid £30mil for Silve BUT he would rather go to Chelsea or United' why do they always have to do this.

I'd personally rather have one or the other. What happens to someone like Weiss if we get both?

I can see how that would benefit him and us in a certain way. He'll get more Premiership experience, hopefully bulk up a little and come back a better player.
But at the same time what is he going to learn from Kevin Nolan or fuckin Gutierrez?? And what happens if we have another situation like with Charlie Hart?
I don't know whether I'd rather have him around our first team squad learning from them and getting games in both FA and Carling Cups and a sub for Prem matches.

What is more important - Weiss's (and others) 'development' or City winning the league? Sometimes I wonder.

Weiss will be 21 in November. We aren't talking about some raw kid here. These lads are often spoken of as if they're 16 or 17, whereas in reality if he was going to make it at City he would've been putting pressure on the first team team last season(which included Petrov and an off-form SWP at the time) instead of going off to Bolton for 'development'.
