Why do you say it's a good source renato, do they have a very solid record of correct info?

I spoke this morning with a good friend of mine working at Juventus. He understands Dzeko and his agent will agree Man City very early! Hoeness told them Wolfsburg needs much more money than Juve could give them actually. No other club in Italy is involved to sign him.

Haha no BlueBlood was saying the other day that those five names seem to be the ones were really after as they always keep poping back up.

does anyone know whether these "quotes" from Silva are recent (and relevant) or are they rehashed comments made a while ago??

Spain winger David Silva says "the Premier League is the place to be" - and has set his sights on a move to Chelsea.

The Valencia star, currently on World Cup duty, has been linked with a number of Englosh sides, among them cash-laden Manchester City and arch rivals Manchester United.

But he has implied he would pass up a move to the north-west should Chelsea come calling.

He said, in comments reported by the Daily Star: "Chelsea have established themselves as one of the best clubs in Europe over the last five years.

"They might not have the history of Real Madrid or AC Milan but they are creating their own history now. There is no reason why in the future Chelsea can't be as decorated as Real Madrid.

"Chelsea probably have, along with Barcelona, the best squad in football and if any player joins Chelsea he knows he is going to win things.

"In players like John Terry, Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba they have players who would get into any team in the world and it would be a pleasure to play with them.

"There is no doubt in my mind that Chelsea would be a great club to play for - and a club where I could fulfil my ambition of league titles and the European Cup.

"The Premier League is still the place to be, no other league in the world has six or seven Champions League quality teams."

There are no recent quotes/articles in castellano on Google.es linking Silva and Chelsea. The latest one I found, on the 14th quotes the English media.

There were a fair few yesterday saying City had made a big offer both to player and club. The player himself said earlier in the WC firstly that he would leave it in the club's hands and secondly that he was concentrating on the world cup.

I suspect some bored journo asked him what he thought of Chelsea, so he can either come out with a load of flattering bollox, or say they're shite.

Standard stuff really.

Having watched them play I prefer Navas!

Is he not the perennially homesick one (who has to return straight home after away matches etc??)....basically like a soft-arsed version of Juan Antonio Reyes???

I've heard lots of positives about him over the past year or so from Sid Lowe on the Guardian's football weekly and he has looked excellent on the (limited) occasions when I have seen him.

Seems like a bit of an unstable one....maybe swap him for Ireland

He's the one that got homesick at a Spanish training camp in Madrid because it was too far from Seville.

Touré - today is the day

Postby john@staustell » Mon Jun 21, 2010 7:09 am

Again!

http://www.elmundodeportivo.es/gen/2010 ... toure.html

It says the long-awaited medical is today, and therefore today should see the finalising of Yaya's €30M move to El City. As well as this medical business there is a Barcelona committee meeting at which it is 'possible' that the corporate DG, Joan Oliver, will announce said transfer at his press conference.

There is very little to sort out as both clubs and the player are all agreed. Yaya has given extraordinary 'value' during his 3 years at Barca, however his agent has moaned on numerous accasions that his player deserves more pitch time, most recently this last season, and because of his has identified the PL as his player's destination. Barca would've liked to keep him but respect the player's decsion to leave, as well as taking into account the fact that his agent is a pain in the arse. Besides the €30M will alow them to sally forth into the market for re-inforcements.

They may sign an experienced holding midfielder so no-one notices Touré's absence, but it is also possible Fabregas may be seen as a direct replacement for Touré in that he can fulfil that holding midfield role instead of Busquets, and develop this important role to it's maximum potential.

Nice war chest for them to sign Torres with, especially if we top it up for Ibrahimovic?

I think Chelsea haven't made a good enough offer for Silva and that's why he is whoring himself to them right now so they match our offer. He defo wants to come prem now however he realizes only 2 clubs can afford him and right now only 1 is interested so that crap about Chelsea is him and his agent selling him to Chelsea.

I would like to know who these 2 are

http://menmedia.co.uk/manchesterevening ... _to_ransom

City won't be held to ransom
Stuart Brennan

June 21, 2010

City are still intent on a fistful of big signings this summer, despite making a stand against “rip-off” agents’ fees.

The Blues have already made it plain that they will not be held to ransom by greedy players’ representatives after splashing out over £12m for last year’s big-money moves.

And their refusal to be stung again has held up their dealings, after Roberto Mancini wanted to get two or three new players in the bag ahead of the World Cup. So far the Blues have signed Jerome Boateng from Hamburg for £11m, have made a £20m bid for Aston Villa’s James Milner and are at an advanced stage in their move for Barcelona midfielder Yaya Toure.

They have also expressed an interest in Valencia’s David Silva, and made tentative enquiries about Liverpool pair, Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres.

Silva has already expressed an interest in moving to the Premier League - but favours Chelsea.

He said; “The Premier League is the place to be.

“Chelsea have established themselves as one of the best clubs in Europe over the last five years.

Target

“There is no doubt in my mind that Chelsea would be a great club to play for - and a club where I could fulfil my ambition of league titles and the European Cup.”

City have been linked to more than 50 other players throughout the world, the vast majority without any substance at all – the principle targets were identified by the Blues’ player acquisition group early, and negotiators Garry Cook and Brian Marwood have stuck closely to the script.

But chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak has made it plain that he does not want City developing a reputation as a soft touch by agents eyeing up the vast resources at their disposal.

By 2015, the Blues need to fit in with UEFA rules which will prevent them from spending more than the club earns for itself, and the owners are determined to introduce a more parsimonious approach to everything.

They have recognised the need to spend big money in order to transform City from a top-six team into one which can qualify for, and compete in, the Champions League.

But they have baulked at some of the fees demanded by agents for players.

Last week Yaya Toure’s agent Dimitri Seluk moaned that the Blues were acting more like a “bankrupt” club than the richest one in the world.

Deal

The detail of that move may be the only thing which prevents it going through, with Barcelona appearing to have agreed a £25m fee, and Toure apparently happy with a proposed four-year deal on £120,000 a week.

But Seluk said: “Everything has changed with City, because they talk a lot but then afterwards they don't appear to be a rich club, but rather a bankrupt one.”

The Blues now hope that Toure will remind Seluk that he is the employee in their relationship, and that the final decision rests with the player and not his agent.

City are also reported to have walked away from two deals when it became clear that the agents in question were demanding huge fees, payable by the club rather than their clients.

Last summer was treated as an exception, as the Blues were desperate for reinforcements to boost them into top four contention.

Manager Mancini has made it plain that he only needs two or three key additions to take the extra step next season, after last season’s narrow miss.

And he aims to ensure that the club is not stung again, as it was last summer by paying £17m for Roque Santa Cruz – who only lasted for 90 minutes twice in the entire league campaign, or £24m for Joleon Lescott, a price widely regarded as excessive.

The fact that the Blues begin in a stronger position means the Blues can afford to be tougher when it comes to agents.

Former City winger Martin Petrov is on the verge of signing for Bolton. The 31-year-old is thought to have undergone a medical with Wanderers prior to agreeing financial terms.

Im trying to work out whether it was an authorised 'leak' aimed at agents in general and bucking Yaya up specifically (though it wouldn't make sense leaking it to a local paper) or just a shot in the dark based on common sense. Im not too happy with him calling us a top six team either - it's like calling Chelsea a top two team.

dunno why yr bothered by the term 'top six'...it's simply a statement of about where we sit in the Premiership. Better than the "mid-table" or "relegation dogfight" tags that City's earned for most of the previous decade, don't you think?
