I don't believe it for a second.

ESPN just said it on air, I really hope not. He is very disinterested half the time. He failed in Germany, was ok at Everton, but not what we need at this time.

so many Americans have heard this like "wow, what a blow for MLS, but he deserves it."

This is so not real. Complete bollox. i've been trying to tell people here that all day. Even the wife laffed this one off, so...

Is it a case of as a team goes out of the World Cup, we get a signing the following week? If so, I hope Spain go out tomorrow.

Edit: And what's that Error message all about, was wondering why there were so many double posts?

Why not have Silva and Ozil in the same team? We had Benarbia and Berkovic.

Silva sounds as if the deal is virtually done. Can't wait for it to be official.

Ozil has one year left on his contract so it is likely that Werder Bremen would take a large offer. Ozil might buy into the project. Having both Silva and Ozil would provide variety for the new season rather than last year where we had Ireland (or lack of).

How fucking random is that last box?

Leighton Baines to be at Barcelona by the end of the summer 16/1?!?!?! Looks like Paul Merson is deciding the odds at skybet then.

Mancini probably has a few systems in mind but I'd be surprised if any of them suit 2 such players. (Happily surprised I may add) That would be going back into the kind of over attacking that got Hughes sacked (& that I enjoy) .

22.53 Fifa agent Marko Naletilic has claimed that Wolfsburg striker Edin Dzeko is 'very close' to joining Manchester City, although he would prefer to join Juventus. However, Juventus do not have the money to buy Dzeko, according to Naletilic, who also claims Milos Krasic is only interested in a move to the Serie A club.

City to launch £100m spending spree - but no Milner

Image

Man City have lined up a stunning £100million triple swoop this week for Yaya Toure, David Silva and Edin Dzeko - but a proposed move for James Milner is in doubt.

Ivory Coast midfielder Toure, 27, is set to be the first to join Roberto Mancini's Eastlands shake-up this week for £28m from Barcelona.

But Valencia's attacking midfielder Silva, 24, is also expected to agree to join for around £30m despite being away on international duty with his native Spain.

And Man City are willing to splash a massive £36m on Wolfsburg striker Dzeko, 24, who scored 27 goals in 46 appearances last season for the German club.

The triple swoop will end up costing City, bankrolled by Abu Dhabi cash, an astonishing £100m.

The arrival of Bosnia & Herzegovina forward Dzeko will be a huge coup as he has been chased by Manchester United, Chelsea and a host of top European sides.

But City's hierarchy have put securing the signatures of midfielder Toure and Silva ahead of Milner.

And England ace Milner, 24, has told pals he has received no firm recent guarantees that Man City will return with another bid for him.

Aston Villa rejected an opening £18m bid plus £2m in add-ons from City earlier this summer for versatile midfielder Milner.

Villa are holding out for around £28m which looks hugely overpriced given England's dismal World Cup campaign after a last 16 thrashing to Germany.

Milner has told friends he has no intention of handing in a transfer request in a bid to get a move to Eastlands.

But it appears Villa will have to drop their asking price for the star if he is to push through a move to City.

Milner could still end up at Eastlands as City need to boost their quota of homegrown players for this season.

But City's hesitancy to pay over the odds for Milner could let in Chelsea and Man United who both fancy the midfielder and may offer him a better chance of starting.

Milner performed creditably against Slovenia and was one of the few England players to turn in a reasonable display against Germany before being subbed.

Obviously Juve are willing to give the agent a substantial Harry & we're not.

Good. I was up for us paying 18 million for him, but 28 is a pisstake for someone who still may not make it as a top class pro (I know we have the money but we should also have principles)

I think he's made it as a 'top class pro' Wooders, he's a PL and now England regular. Whether he's good enough for where WE want to go is another matter, but Vlad Weiss, for example, is someone who 'may not make it as a top class pro'.

I like the Milner scenario if its true we have "decided" not to pursue further....

Martin O'Neill : My view is that we don't accept their 1st or 2nd offer Randy, let them get to about £30mn before we show an interest.

Randy Lerner : Are you sure MON, we could manage our debt and you could have an increased transfer kitty

MON : Trust me Randy, like Arnie they'll be back

RL : O'NEILL, whats this about City not upping their bid, in fact what's this about City no longer being interested in our prize asset?

MON : Aaaah, um, they may be back

Obviously, as the source is the Mirror I've just wasted 2 mins of my time and your time, as its clearly bollox

Good sense Dronny, but you know we're gonna get him! Villa probably saw the Lescott saga pan out after they'd let Barry go for bugger all and what you say above is right. But we'll get him. The fact that he's English means that alone, under new regs.

Fingers crossed that Yaya completes the deal and hope he is able to pull a few out of the bag like these:

I remember once being over the moon at City signing Eddie McGoldrick. Fecking laughable to think about it now :D
