Hmm a sign i'm not sure.

If Landon was offered the chance to come here would he take it? Yes. I'm sure of it.

Doubt he will get that offer though tbh.

I feel sort of...ugh after watching that. I'd give Kelly one though, at a push. At least she's better at football than Diana Ross.

He certainly seems to make a point of praising the shirt. Think maybe Kelly's family are friends with the Cooks? A Tevez City shirt would say that someone knows their football.

I think he did ok at Everton and if we were going to sign a player on marketing potential then Donavon would probably be our best bet as regardless of what some seem to think building up a fan base in Asia hasn't been that big a financial wow so far (probably due to the fact that 99.9% of the merchandise over there is fake), the US seems to have gotten World Cup fever and with Cooky's ties there we seem to be making a concerted effort with the pre season tour and various soccer camp style activities. This could be the opportunity to get all the new US fans to be City fans.

From a purely football point of view, occasional sub material but for the above reasons it actually wouldn't surprise me to see him sign

Landon Donavon....hmmmm......in terms of profile for City it would doubtless be a good thing. He did really bloody well at Neverton last year.

If he came and understood that he would be used as an impact player and/or as cover for our frontline strikers and that Tevez, Adebayor, Bellamy and AN Other were all more likely to be a starter than him then honestly I'd have no problem with it.

I think he would love being at City, anyone of his kind of level would be buzzing to be at City this season. He'd try his bollocks off Bellamy style (I think).

Can't see it being true...but if it were and he were joined by a new striking addition such as Dzeko then I would be quite happy with our options up front.

Tbh I was shocked at how well he played v us for Everton & I'm not against us having one or two more 'down to Earth' players in the squad to balance out the 'stars' & their egos so, like Milner, I can take or leave him.

American talkshow hosts with their kids playing football in City shirts though...(gives Simpson's style shudder).

Sandro Rosell takes over at mid day today (11am UK).

The two 'hot potatoes' he has to deal with are the Fabregas deal and Touré, with lesser probs like the departure of Henry and Ibrahimovic's feelings. Some stories run about Touré's agent going back to Barca etc, but I reckon the Mail has the sensible line. It will be 'rubber-stamped' sometime this afternoon hopefully.

No, no, NO!

World class when he's fit. Problem is he has a touch of Santacruzitis. £60million, maybe more and he'd end up playing 15 games at full fitness.

I can't believe you just mentioned Torres and RSC in same sentence.

Anyway, I'd love that signing. Torres has had two seasons with niggling injuries now BUT he has no long history of injuries and is truly world class. That boy is GUARANTEED for goals.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

Yes, Colin, you really need to think about this 'NO to Torres' business.

Corriere claims Lazio's Aleksandar Kolarov is "practically a Man City player". Fee €18m. Beaten competition from Real.

i'm with CtK on Torres, how many people will be happy about paying £50+million for him when he plays 15 games?

now here's an interesting bit of news:

http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528, ... 72,00.html

Edin Dzeko is hoping Wolfsburg will allow him to leave the club this summer after claiming to have received a 'good offer'.

The Bosnia-Herzegovina international has established himself as one of the most potent strikers in European football in recent seasons and has been linked with several clubs.

Manchester City and Juventus are both reportedly keen to sign the 24-year-old, but failed to make offers before a deadline included in Dzeko's contract.

A get-out clause in his deal, which runs until 2013, stipulates that he would have been allowed to leave Wolfsburg if a club offered £32.5million before 1st June.

However, having not received any bids matching that valuation before the deadline, the Bundesliga club are determined to hang on to Dzeko during the transfer window.
Big desire

Dzeko, though, remains keen to quit Wolfsburg and is planning talks with new coach Steve McClaren regarding the possibility of securing a move.

"I now want to represent a big club so I can develop further," Dzeko told kicker-Sportmagazin.

"This has now become my big desire. I hope and I believe VfL will let me leave now.

"I am aware of the clauses in my contract, but I have already said that this point in time would be too early. It is too early for other clubs.

"Now I have received a good offer I have to talk about it with the manager and the managing director."

I think we are after Dzeko big time.

Tbh i'd have him over Torres, yes i know Torres on his day is just amazing but those days seem to be getting fewer and fewer.

Dzeko has been consistently putting them in, is a unit of a man, pretty much the perfect fit for the prem really, at half the cost of Torres.

Dzeko is agititing for a move because wolfburg have slapped a 50 million price tag on him, clearly we're not prepared to spend anything like that sort of money as we allowed the 32.5 million release clause deadline to pass without moving - footballs fans of other clubs and the gutter press may think our owners are brain dead idiots with more money than sense however we know better
I suspect we've offered about 25 million for Dzeko and they are testing our resolve

Agreed Wooders, we are after Dzeko but at the right price, if not then we will go elsewhere. Dzeko will not earn the wages he can at City anywhere else in world footy at present hence why he's agitating.

Maybe we can peddle Santa Snooze off to Wolfsburg .... "I'd drive him there myself"

Torres is an injury worry but if that's only a short term thing, he's more skillful, better in the air, faster, beats men better, shoots better, finishes better, is more intelligent, stronger, more experienced in the Pl, has less big game nerves, misses less chances & sells more shirts than Dzeko. There is no fucking comparison whatsoever at present.

...and that's coming from someone who can't stand the cheating, human fish, bastard.

big if. he's been dogged by problems for a year or so - RSC gets so much stick because of the same issue, how long do you think it would be before the "fucking crocked waste of money" jibes started surfacing? obviously when fit he's next level but as i said, big if.

i also like the fact that Dzeko would feel more like "our" player, if you know what i mean.
