Manchester City V Sporting Lisbon on ESPN

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

I know its pre season but that was reasonably inept. At one point in the first half i think we had Johnson at center forward and Jo on the right wing. Madness. Seems Mancini is trying to devise formations that play as many players out of position as possible. The gap between our defence and front players is much too big also.

Vieria and Richards, simply awful. Cunningham out of his depth.

Lets hope we were just messing around there and will play properly in the second half.

If this is our staring XI, you are spot on, but it is not.

Friendly or not thats a pathetic 1st half performance.
Especially when you consider the majority of players on the pitch should be despearte to impress Mancini when given the chance.Vieira needs to be woken up at half time,to sum him up in two words slow and late come to mind. The whole defence has been poor.Feeling sorry for Cunningham he looks a bag of nerves, almost had a howler of an assist for Sporting.Panic stations. What was he thinking?

Not much good can be said really.Ireland looks good enough his movement has been decent giving himself time on the ball but sadly getting no support.Likewise for Jo he has been looking decent on the ball but has seen so little of it he has not had the chance to really impress.
Lets hope for a big improvement second half.Hopefully a few changes. That midfield is moving far to quick for Vieira.

Johnny, this really isn't the forum for you to whinge about that sort of thing. Too many of us go through it regularly.
