I still would like to see us get Dzeko even if we get Balotelli. We have Tevez and Adebayor who I see as 1st team strikers. With injuries, suspensions and loss of form IMO we need 4 top class strikers. We also could end up playing 50+ games.

Dzeko would play a more centre forward role and link with others. Balotelli maynot be able to play that role but could play as a 2nd striker or on the right wing.

From a decent footy journo on Twitter - "mario balotelli's move to manchester city is "imminent" (according to someone "close to the action")" #mcfc

Don't quite know what to make of Balotelli, but it seems clear he and Milner would finish our buys at which point Mancio will then start shipping some out.

All 6 new players would be 24 and under, bar Ya Ya at age 27 - smart, best years ahead of them all and resale value if needed.

Weiss to discuss future

Vladimir Weiss is to meet with Roberto Mancini to see if he figures in his Manchester City plans.

The Slovakian winger was loaned out to Bolton for the second half of last term before linking up with his country for the World Cup.

He has now returned to pre-season training with City and is eager to remain with the club and honour his long-term contract.

However, it is unlikely that Weiss will see much action over the coming months at Eastlands considering the wealth of options at Mancini's disposal.

The 20-year-old is now poised to speak with his manager about the future, with the prospect of another loan very much on the agenda.

"I've got three years left on my contract. I'm going to try to stay at City if possible," Weiss told the Manchester Evening News.

"But I need to have a chat with the manager and see how pre-season goes.

"I don't really know what's going to happen at the moment. I've not spoken to the manager yet - I've only just got back to training. We will see what happens."

Mancini has significantly bolstered his attacking options this summer but Weiss is relishing the challenge of trying to push for a place in the team.

"It's great," he said. "I've just got back from the World Cup and I want to play regularly now.

"We'll see how the pre-season goes and then we'll take it from there."

SSN were reviewing the sunday paper headlines and the People is running "20 days to spend £100 million".
Assuming it's 24 for Balotelli and around the same for Milner, who's the other £50 mill going on?
Balotelli......that's a brilliant finish.

Mancini has 100 million pounds to spend in just 20 days

ROBERTO MANCINI is ready to spend another 100 million pounds in the next 20 days.

The Manchester City boss took his summer spending to 90 million pounds last night with the 19 million pounds capture of Lazio left-back Aleksandar Kolarov.

He joins City's other big-money signings Yaya Toure, David Silva and Jerome Boateng.

More big names will follow before the start of the season as Mancini juggles with a revolving door policy that will trim a squad bursting at the seams down to 25 players.

Inter Milan whizkid Mario Balotelli will be the next to arrive in a 22 million pound deal which should be finalised in days.

The explosive striker, 19, will snub interest from Manchester United and Chelsea to team up with his former Inter boss who gave him his Serie A debut, aged 17.

Everton's Spanish midfielder Mikel Arteta is high on City's hit-list too, while the long pursuit of Aston Villa's James Milner will continue this week.

After seeing his side lose 2-0 to Sporting Lisbon in New Jersey in the Barclays New York Challenge tournament, Mancini confirmed his spending is far from over and confessed he's planning a clear-out.

After being quizzed on his interest in Benfica pair Ramires and David Luiz, he said: "These players are good, but we can't buy all the players in the world!

"But there could be more signings. We are interested in all the players who can improve our team and have another 20 days.

"Milner is a big player who could improve our team but we have time on this now.

"When you have to play in four competitions, you must have a large squad but I know we must sell some players."

Mancini is expecting big things of 24-year-old Serbia international Kolarov.

"His attacking capability is very good. He is fast and can shoot with power and accuracy," said the Italian.

"He also has the ability to play in numerous positions and is very good in midfield."

Strikers Craig Bellamy a target for Tottenham and Jo, midfielder Stephen Ireland and defender Nedum Onuoha are all up for grabs now.

But Mancini insists Kolarov's arrival has not put Wayne Bridge's Eastlands future in doubt despite the England international being linked with a move to Liverpool.

"I want two top-class players for each position," he said.

i will be gutted if ned and ireland go. it's not good to see us offloading homegrown players, especially ones of their calibre. they would thrive around better players if given the chance. you look at chelsea and terry and lampard, and man utd with scholes and giggs its very important to keep the spine of your team homegrown to me.

Lampard was West Ham born and bred.

I do agree with your general point but if they aren't good enough or are unwilling to fight for their place like everyone else, then perhaps it's best for all parties to go separate ways. And I'm fucking mega Ireland and Nedum fan who has defended both of them millions of times here. However Ned's outburst in Soccer AM hasn't been forgotten. I can't stand attitude like that and was really really disappointed with him. Same goes with Ireland blaming everyone but himself for his slump in form.

The only transfer talk has been about Koralov, obviously; but have there been any updates on
Dzeko or Balotelli; I have always believed Wolfsburg is just using us as a beard for Juventus....
Balotelli actually seems like a real possibility.

Sky Italia saying that Balotelli transfer is virtually done.

Sky: Balotelli va al City, affare fatto! Mario ha salutato tutti. Già venerdì...

translation:

If it was not closed, it is now. Mario Balotelli is practically a player of Manchester City. The news is almost official as Sky Sports 24: the most important innovations date from this evening, when the agent of Mario, Mino Raiola, was agreed with the Citizen, while the transaction between the English club and 'Inter was already closed for some time now based on 30 million plus 5 issued in bonuses linked to appearances, goals and Champions League qualification. The deal convinced that Inter decided then to let the gem.

The player adds Sky, just before leaving for the United States greeted all the men of the trees with heat, even close friends present at Appian, even going to leave free his locker: now you leave, its future is Manchester City Roberto Mancini. In reality, however, everything had already been put on track already on Friday: Raiola, in fact, had found the agreement with Inter Milan to close all right between Monday and Tuesday. In the next hours will reach the official decreed that the signatures of a transaction at this point is made. We will keep you updated on any developments.

Good news, Just Milner left now.

Coming from sky italy reperts tonight.

Balotelli on breaking news : there is agreement INTER -CITY , missing only the signatures !

According to a report in 'Sky Sports ' late-night , now would be made for the passage of Balotelli to the Manchester City. TheInter and team Mancini found the financial agreement on the young striker , and even Raiola would be granted with Citizens contract for his client : the Nerazzurri should go around a figure 30 million plus bonuses, While the attacker there would be a contract of 5 years 4 million per season , double what he took to 'Inter.

Now for the passage of Balotelli to the Manchester City really miss very little , almost nothing. In a few hours could get the signatures , despite today SuperMario is left for the United States with the Inter- contracts and agreements between Inter and City, but 45 is almost an Inter Citizen
Also 'Sky ' tells an indiscretion of this afternoon : the player , before leaving for the States, he warmly greeted all the staff before leaving Inter , as one who is destined not to return . We have now .

Manchester City willing to break transfer record for Fernando Torres

Roberto Mancini has confirmed Manchester City are willing to underwrite a British record transfer for Fernando Torres should the Spaniard decide to leave Liverpool.

Torres's future at Anfield remains shrouded in uncertainty with Christian Purslow, the club's managing director, holding extensive talks with the 26-year-old striker and the manager, Roy Hodgson, but conceding he can do no more to convince the striker to stay.

Chelsea and Barcelona have been linked with the former Atlético Madrid captain but may struggle to meet Liverpool's £70m valuation.

City's hopes of signing Torres were believed to have ended when they failed to qualify for the Champions League last season but Mancini, who is also interested in Mario Balotelli of Internazionale and Wolfsburg's Edin Dzeko, insists the prospect of Torres making a sensational switch from Anfield to Eastlands is not over and is willing to better the £32.5m record fee City spent to sign Robinho from Real Madrid.

The City manager, who has taken his summer spending to £78m with the £18.9m arrival of Aleksandar Kolarov from Lazio, said: "Torres is one of the best strikers in Europe and is already playing in the Premier League for three years and knows it very well. But it depends on his situation – his price and whether he wants to come.

"There are two or three strikers that we could go for, but it is the same situation as it is with James Milner. First there is the price and then it depends if the players want to change team. Until today, Liverpool haven't bought many players."

City officials have indicated the club has more chance of signing Balotelli and Dzeko than Torres, with the lack of Champions League football on offer still a determining factor despite their ability to fund a deal and to offer players £200,000-a-week.

The Spanish striker has stressed that money will not be the over-riding motivation as he considers his future at Liverpool this summer but, nevertheless, confirmation of City's interest will further unsettle Anfield officials as they attempt to persuade their prized asset to stay.

Torres is settled in Liverpool but disillusioned with the club's failure to secure new investment having been told a takeover was imminent when he signed a new four-year contract worth £110,000-a-week last August. His insistence that Liverpool require "four or five" top‑class signings to compete for honours next season is unlikely to materialise and Purslow has spent several days attempting to pacify the striker.

Hodgson confirmed at the weekend: "I made it clear from my point of view that I'm really looking forward to working with him and I believe he's a key, key figure at the club. I obviously want him to be a part of the team we're trying to build here and I can only hope he'll buy into what the club is offering him. I don't think there are any worries with him in terms of me personally or what we're doing. I think the concerns go back once again to the time before I came to the club."

City are expected to make a final £24m bid for Milner this week, having been involved in a prolonged pursuit of the Aston Villa midfielder this summer. "He is still a player who interests us but only at the right price," said Mancini, who also confirmed the Brazil international Robinho does not want to return to Eastlands and that several high-profile players will have to leave City before the close of this transfer window.

"I don't know about Robinho's situation because he doesn't want to come back. I have now, with all the new signings, 30 players. It is important that we get to the start of the season with only 25 players because that is the number of names we can put on the list. It is better for me and the other players who are not on the list that they go to another team. I think it is better for the extra that they go rather than staying and not playing. That would be a big problem, for the players and for us."

Mancini has also revealed that his goalkeeper, Shay Given, is unlikely to be fit for the start of the new season, having dislocated his shoulder against Arsenal at the end of last season. "Shay is not fit at the moment. He is not 100% ready to go in goal but we must wait and be patient because it was not a small problem he had."
