Hughes "close" to being named Fulham manager

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

I have just checked our stats against this team who are not our rivals;

In the last 6 league games against them we have only won once
We haven't beat them at home in the league since 06/07
In the last 3 seasons they have taken 9 points off us

As a wise man once said, these are the facts.

I doubt it.

If people want our rivals to do well that is up to them and they are perfectly entitled to share their opinions.

So you don't wish him luck when Fulham play scum, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Villa, Spurs or Everton?
I consider those teams our rivals. I hope we thrash Fulham twice next season but otherwise I quite like Fulham and hope they can take points off our main rivals.
I agree with the highlighted bit but only if they are nowhere near us in terms of points and league position.

I just can't believe how ready some people are to dismiss them. If they hadn't been in the UEFA Cup for so long last season who is to say they wouldn't have improved on their 08/09 position and finished above us?

If they had finished above us, something would've been seriously wrong at City. Our squad is miles ahead of theirs. We shouldn't have to worry about the likes of Fulham. I quite like Fulham and I...well not 'like'....but don't mind Hughes who definitely made mistakes while in charge of us but also brought about some good change. So yes I suppose I do wish both him and Fulham luck (apart from when they play us) and definitely DON'T want him to 'fail miserably' cos that would mean Fulham would fail miserably. I HATE Steve Bruce but don't want Sunderland to get relegated just cos I don't like their manager. No manager or player is bigger than the club and I really wish some people could realise that and let go of their petty hatred. Rant not necessarily directed at you btw KK.

Aye. Six points lost next season, IMO.

They always dick us anyway, but with Leslie in charge, we're fucked.

Nah. Best they will get out of the two games is a draw at home.

Hughes should have tried his luck abroad. If he gets the Fulham job he will be managing the likes of Fulham for the rest of his career.

With Leslie in charge they'll attack beautifully but there defense will have more holes than the titanic. We'll beat them both times next season and i predict Fulham will finish no higher than 10th.

There's a myth going around that Leslie is/was the dogs bollocks of a manager when he really wasn't that good in my opinion. Under Hughes i never felt confident we could win even the easiest of games. Good luck to him but i can't see him doing anything other than an ok job there.

Hopefully though he fancy's resigning rsc for Fulham. That would be nice :D

Hughes' entire career has been mediocre at best.. He was never good enough to have been appointed at City and should have gone 6 months earlier than he did.

I sincerely hope the Munich Twunt fails in everything he does!!

Ha ha, they can give me their worst but I was never fickle enough to change my opinion.

Despite his red past I never rated him for Wales or Blackburn and he did nothing to change my opinion of him at City.

True but when he left i think most people came round to a single view on him. Hughes is long gone yet the debate over his merits still rages on!

Didn't we beat them away last time we played. So that's history.

Knocked them out of the cup too.

Rivals my arse. If they are rivals then we're fucked & you know it. Lots of people have made comments wishing people good luck without all this nonsense. I bet someone even wished Hodgson good luck & they ARE rivals. No need for this at all.

Absolutely right. IF Fulham are roughly in the same part of the league table as us at say Christmas I would expect we will be looking for a new manager as I firmly expect Fulham to be in the bottom half of the league.

Despite or because of Leslie?

;-)

I think Fulham way overachieved last year and this year will find them out.I expected that if Hodgson had still been there and my opinion hasnt changed.

That's hardly a split. Loads of people rate him, loads of people think he is decent but aren't really bothered and one man's mum was shagged up the bum by him.

At the start of this thread I had an opinion I wanted to write, and by the time I got this far I hadn't a clue what the fuck the thread is about and forgot what I was going to write.

So, just to say good luck Hughes (obviously not against us).

And for those who look to the recent past and the results between us and Fulham, just remember how many times Hughes' team was on the losing side.

Random question, but how come sandman's posts have a totally different subject title in this thread?
