Anyone partaking, it's free you know!?!
Watch City Train At Family Fun Day

Following the huge success of last year’s event - enjoyed by more than 10,000 fans - City are delighted to announce a free open training session as part of a family fun day on Friday, August 6.

Turnstiles open from 2pm, when fans will be able to experience the newly-extended and revamped Family Stand, which boasts child catering concessions including Cadburys and Starbucks.

Live entertainment and free face-painters will also be on hand to keep the kids entertained, along with buskers and Blues mascots Moonbeam and Moonchester.

It’s not too late either to take advantage of the last remaining under-16 Seasoncards for the Family Stand, priced £95, or a parent and child Seasoncard saver package priced £500.

Then from 3-4pm, Blues fans are invited to watch the first team in a light-hearted training session. Fans can enjoy their favourite players demonstrating the skills that make them some of the biggest names in world football.

Lucky fans will also get the chance to welcome the new summer signings such as World Cup winner David Silva, Yaya Toure, Jerome Boateng and Aleksandar Kolarov to their new home.

Andy Derbyshire, Head of Match Day Events, said: “Manchester City has always been proud to be a family club at heart.

The fun day is about saying thank you to all our fans for their terrific support, and giving a warm City welcome to some new faces

"We’re sure it will be an enjoyable day out for all ages and a great opportunity to see what’s in store for next season.”

In addition to the training session, the new home kit will also be unveiled when it hits the shelves in the Stadium Citystore from 9am.

The kit has been designed with performance and style in mind, as new techniques such as body panelling have been used to enhance the performance and general feel for the players.

To crown the day, the Club will also be launching our new online coaching school, eacademy, which is designed to help promising young players to get more out of football.

I've got the week off work and my girlfriend has Friday off so we were thinking of heading into the city centre on Fri morning with the 2 boys, then calling at City on the way back to stock up on the new shirts. Part of me is now thinking that the Open Day makes it an even better day, the other part is thinking how busy it's now going to be

I'll probably take my chances of being stuck at the wrong end of a long queue and go along

I missed it last year but apparently it was a really good event, free of charge, very child friendly and not too much queueing. I won't be missing it this year and have booked time off to ensure I don't miss it.

Sounds like it's going to be a quality day and a good way to welcome the lads for the new season, and for the kids to get a picture and chat with the players, especially the Academy boys who will be around the stands. I'm planning on getting a new home shirt for the lad and getting one for a few signatures off the players; yes, I'm that sad ;-)

PS. There better be a Bar!

Think I'll be going, with the missus and lad. Missed it last year, and am looking forward to going this time. Question for anyone that went last year: what is the likelihood of getting signatures/pics with players if we're not at the front?

Went last year with my two lads, its a great day out and they were both on the official site video of the day which they still watch and get giddy about to this day, defo taking them again. To answer your question though Haz, the nearest we came to the players was meeting Shay Givens wife and kids (didnt know at the time btw), thats not to say the players didnt sign anything, just that if they did, we certainly didnt see it and we were sat right at the front of the north stand.

You will have agreat day anyways so well worth going

I took the kids last year, it was really sunny too which made the day. Loads of entertainment, stilt walkers and ball jugglers etc. Got no where near the players though but watched them train. I am going to take the kids down this year to welcome our new boys!!

They should also have a drunkards day with strippers n stuff. All this bias towards families is unfair.

I heard that the club have arranged for a big fuck-off wall to be placed directly in front of Doug at this event.
