Poll: Who Should Play Between The Sticks At Spurs?

Postby King Kev » Sun Aug 01, 2010 1:30 pm

Hart was widely regarded as the best 'keeper in the league last season, he is our future and I want to see him being given the chance to cement his place in the starting XI.

I don't think anyone considered Hart best keeper in the league. Most promising maybe.

Anyway, Shay Given. Better goalkeeper of the two. Simple. Hart on the bench.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

Given still slightly ahead for me, though at least for a change no matter which keeper we have in, there's quality there

It's difficult. Before the friendlies started, I would have said Joe for sure. He hasn't looked very good though, so if pressed right now I'd go for Shay.

Hart's had his chance & blown it. Given will play if fit (even though we're pretending these friendlies don't matter).

Shay, he's the better of the two. Watching Hart in pre season has reminded me just how good Given actually is.

Shay is a Given for me until Mr "Unless I can be number 1, I don't want to play for you" mans up and fights to be a better keeper.

I've heard stories about Arsenal trying. Who else is looking for a keeper? Chelsea have Cech, Liverpool have Reina, we wouldn't sell him to Spurs (who wouldn't offer decent money), no explanation needed for the Rags. There's a reason we loaned him to Birmingham.

Hart is a good goalie but he still didn't inspire enough faith in Capello to be better than 3rd choice at the World Cup and that was in an England team that was failing dismally at goalie. If you can't give Robert fucking Green the heave-ho then you don't have much chance with Shay Given.

a player who has been, on the whole, shit all pre-season, and has recently made a "play me or I'll fuck off" type statement to the press.. or a player who did us proud last season and saved a couple of peno's in the friendlies as well as put in a great performance?

It's tricky.
