What's the difference of Mallorca and scum?

Both have huge debts apparently. One manages to get to UCL and is allowed to play there. The other qualifies for Europa League but UEFA do not let them enter the competition (which would do world of good for their finances!) because of their debts?

Is this simply ridiculous or is there actually some sense somewhere behind it and please tell me what it is

Mallorca aren't in admin. They just have debt. And it's a considerably smaller debt than United's.

So what was the reason given, there's got to be a valid reason why?

I am pretty sure its because they went into administration which is an attractive option for Spanish clubs as there is no penalty domestically for doing so.

On the 19th November 2009, the Spanish businessman Mateo Alemany has purchased Real Mallorca from the Marti-Mingarro family.[3] In May 2010, it was announced that the club had applied to the courts to enter voluntary administration with debts estimated between £42.5m and £51.3m.[4] It was announced on 28 June 2010 that a consortium lead by Llorenç Serra Ferrer had bought the club [5] and the sale was completed in July 2010.[6] However due to the poor financial situation at the club, UEFA decided on 22 July 2010 against granting Mallorca the licence to play in the 2010/2011 UEFA Europa League.[7] Despite the off-field upheavals and financial struggles, Mallorca are enjoying their longest stay in the top flight and the 2010-11 will be their 14th consecutive season in La Liga.

So by the time of their banning, they'd only applied for admin, but managed to avoid it and instead achieved a buy out, which stabled things. Now granted, they troubles have only had a plaster put on the wound, but in the scheme of things, they're good to go. So why were they still banned, after all the previous had occurred?
