Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

I was very impressed with his free-kicks and corners and hope we use his talent as much as possible this season.
If I was being hyper-critical I would suggest that he was out of position in the lead up to the first penalty and this lead to Barry committing the foul. But I think I will put that down to lack of match fitness.

free kick delivery superb, all were dangerous and in the right area.
Corners....meh, he hit the first man which was disappointing.
energy and work rate good, excellent attacking threat, however, I think he is going to have to rely on the CB and LM positions covering his ass on many occasions this season as he loves to go forward.

I that was my problem when we signed him. To be fair though, it's tactical decision to go for attacking fullbacks and whole team always have to accomodate for them. That's why I don't like them in general. I believe that wingers and centerbacks should be doing what they are supposed to do ie create chances for forwards, not covering for fullbacks.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

He looked good but hard to judge in a pre-season friendly. I do think though that he will become a firm fans favourte as we all love a tough nut, well I do as I'm anti-flare!

I'll tell you after he's played 5-6 competitive games in the Premier/Europa League that count for something.

Point is nobody truly knows about any player based on a friendly - Kareem Kerkar (remember him?) looked like a world beater in phony war games
If City get a decent result at WHL on 14th nobody will give one iota of a shit about any of the games that preceded that one, and thats the key - getting the squad ready to perform at WHL when the real stuff starts.
Ill place a lot more stock in all our new players once theyve played real games, not practice matches.

If anyone other that Kolorov takes a freekick or corner I'm going to swear very loudly and very often at them.

I've been harping on for seasons about how pathetic our dead ball play is & how many goals/points our competitors get from quality balls in from set plays. (Often the rags/Chelsea's 1st or winning goal is a set piece). What Kolarov produced last night was as good as Gerrard or Giggs or anyone in those situations.
Imo, if he keeps that standard up, even if he's a shit fullback we just play him in midfield. Johnson or SWP aren't in the same class at delivering the ball, end of. He's a great asset.

Definitely our best player on the pitch last night, and as I said in the match thread there wasn't a whole lot of competition. He was solid, great delivery both from crosses and free kicks and certainly left a very good first impression
