No it doesn't mate, what it means is that the club decided to shoot down a story that was clearly fabricated to cause trouble, whereas the others have not been shown to be making statements of fact, just the usual speculation.

I think it's important. The players don't know if they're coming or going. (quite literally!) Our centre forward openly says he's thinking of leaving & nobodies arsed?. The club shoot that story down but say nowt about the Bellamy, Ireland etc stories. They obviously dont have a general plan for how to deal with this kind of thing.

If he didn't say it we should kick up fuck about it because that would be pure shitstirring lies.

Lack of self-belief? No motivation? Laziness?

I don't think its a case of players not wanting to fight for thier place. To me it seems that players have realised that Bobby is more likely to play the players that he has bought and regardless of how they play in training and freindlies ,their chances are going to be limited.
If we sign Mario, where does that leave Ade?
Probably on the bench and I think Ade thiinks he is to good to be playing the minor role to a young whippersnapper.
I wouldn't be suprised to hear this uncertainty is running through the whole team.
The sooner Roberto assembles his own team the better.

Pretty much. It is all adding to the general hysteria and if its not Ade its Robbie or Ireland or its pre season and is it a shambles or not or is it on track with what was planned from the off (Mancini flying back to Italy apart) or its the status of transfers or what the fuck is really going on because City are so damn tight lipped no one has a clue really. All we see is us losing pre season games and reading wild, and invariably negative, speculation concerning all things City.

And its getting to us and it shows. Even when City use an official outlet to refute one story we still look for the negative or jump to the conclusion all the other stories may be true because they haven't been refuted and yet more drama ensues.

And yet the season hasn't even kicked off and we have signed 4 quality players so...what and why are we so jumpy?

the only obvious problem to me is that the players only have a few days together before the spuds game and then the Europa opener. What other real problems are there? there is untold speculaion about the need to ship players, but that is speculation and speculation only, besides the 25 only have to be announced at the end of August.

So what are these problems? Mancini attending his father yes thats a problem. Unavoidable yes but a potential problem nonetheless. Jetting all over to play friendlies? Not ideal but we are playing with the big boys these days and thats what the big boys do so we have to adapt and work with it. Players coming back in dribs and drabs. Again we knew that from the off and now its only a handful of players who are behind and again as we knew this would happen we should have planned accordingly. Which I suspect we did unless people really think it came as a huge shock to the management team. Losing our pre season games? Haven't seen any so can't comment but everyone seems to think we have been universally awful and every other team has been tearing up trees and impressing the shit out of everyone so I'll bow to everyone's superior judgement on this. Signing or attempting to sign world class players? Four done. Two or three dragging on. Well life's a bitch sometimes and not everyone wants to play nice in negotiations. We are doing more business than any other club on the planet so I don't expect everything to go smoothly. Just ask Barca and Fabregas.

Yes its going to be tough getting everyone fit and gelled for the opening game of the season especially with the dumb international friendly but thats the same for everyone. Our 'problem' is getting our new world class additions up and ready within the team. No one else has that problem because no one else has signed anyone so its 'carry on as you were Claude' albeit it hasn't stopped every manager moaning about the scheduled international. Mancini commented briefly and he was 'getting his excuses in early' apparently.

Maybe we should just step back and look at things a bit more coolly rather than seizing on every misstep or press speculation and running with it.

Good post mate, a bit of good old fashioned common sense. Our only problem is making so many signings ( out of necessity ) following a World-Cup, and as you have pointed out gelling them in time for game one. Btw virtually all the top teams have lost a couple of friendlies. I see spurs getting put up for praise for beating Benfica 1-0, well the game before Villarreal tour them a new ass 4-1 at the Lane.

It has quotes. If the quotes are lies there's no problem. If they're true there's a problem & perhaps a big one. Adebayor is not the kind of player to perform if he's not happy. Anyone who thinks otherwise didn't see him 'play' for Arsenal.

I'll ask you a question. Taking into account pre season, fitness blah blah, do you think that there are any signs whatsoever that the squad we've been watching so far, has anywhere near the ability to challenge for the Premier League? Do the players look happy? Do they look more or less organised so that they just need a bit of tweaking to become one of the tightest units in the country? Do the players who played together last season look as if they have an understanding?

The bollocks about everyone else being the same is just that: bollocks. Every half decent side I've seen has looked streets ahead of us. Yes they look a bit rusty but they do look as if they can play football; we don't.

Imo we've wasted a month fucking about. We're gambling everything on the new boys. Our season now depends on the new signings + Tevez. If they don't fire quickly we're absolutely utterly fucked.

I'm very worried about this. Is there any kind of camaraderie in this squad or what? There seems to be so much unrest and uneasiness.

I'd be happy with Dzeko replacing Adebayor but on the downside it's even more gelling.

Realistically we could end up with this season:

IN: Kolarov, Milner, Yaya Toure, Boateng, Silva, Balotelli, Dzeko and perhaps one more, maybe Luiz

OUT: Bojinov, Jo, Ireland, Garrido, Benjani, Adebayor, Robinho, Petrov and I'm sure there's quite a few others.

Although all those players are better than their replacements (you could argue Dzeko replacing Adebayor) it's a huge upheaval and our first team will practically be a bunch of strangers (albeit hugely talented strangers).

To be honest if I was offered 4th place now I'd bite their hands off.
