Sorry to seem him go, another quality English manager gone. I am sure he will pop up again. Not surprised he left, with all the bust ups he'd had with owner. Sadly, I was discussing this very topic with a Villa fan the other day.

Just to confirm, Ashley Young is wank and AJ is ten times better.
Thank you for your time.

This is true, he's a mouthy, diving wee cunt! Who doesn't score enough or set up enough to warrant all the praise he gets
His valuation is even more ridiculous than Milners! I wouldn't be too worried if Spurs signed him

Worth bidding for him to push the price up though, the more Twitchy spends on him the less he'll have left to covet our players.
I seem to remember O'neill getting positively orgasmic talking about Young after one match, so losing him would be more than likely to make him quit

I've heard rumours for months that he was unhappy and might walk at any time. A few months off to recharge the batteries then maybe the England job, or else - if Bobby's not doing so well .......

Just got in from work and thought this was a joke thread, gobsmacked, didn't see this one coming. We'll be getting slated from pillar to post no doubt by now. Who the hell are they going to appoint?

Not spent all that big have they since Learner took over? just enough to tread water really.
Looks on their forums its more Young related.
I think he knew months ago he was losing Milner.
They dont seem to be blaming us. Goods news but sad, i kinda liked MoN being there, they should be a top half club and have been.
Might spark the transfer market into life?

BBC sport wrote:O'Neill indicated before the weekend that he was keen to speak to Lerner over how much cash he would make available from the Milner move.
When asked how much he would have to spend on new players, O'Neill said: "I need to speak to the chairman [Lerner] and chief executive [Paul Faulkner] about that.
guess that particular meeting didn't go so well then...

If I was to speculate, I simply think Martin O'Neill left because he realized that under the current conditions, he could not take Aston Villa any farther than he has already taken them. First of all, he has continually failed to match the most senior Premier League (let alone European) managers tactically. It is not that they are a long ball team, but they are certainly direct to a fault. Secondly, with a small transfer budget for a team aiming for the European positions, having to sell key players and rebuild the spine of his team each season may have lead him to believe that this is as far as they can go, especially with City and Tottenham having enormously strengthened their squads in the last two seasons. Without substantial investment and retention of talent, Villa will struggle to reach the European places, even worse if it is true that Ashley Young is on his way out as well as James Milner.
Manchester City FC: the class of the Premier League!
