Tbf to the Romanian fans; I could be wrong but they didn't appear to be giving the other black players shit, just Balotelli. I think it was more to do with the fact that he's a star who's known to be tempramental & they were just on a wind up, like we would be with Cantona. I'd like to hope that's what it was anyway.

If people do start genuinely giving Balotelli or any of our players racist shit though, imo the team should just walk off & let UEFA deal with it. There's nothing in any contract with player or club that says someone has to put up with shit like that.

for being black? would be my guess....ask Kladze, he's an expert on Romanian racism ;-D

So why didn't they boo Kompo, Yaya, Kolo, Lescott, de Jong, Jo or Ade?

Because they know Balotelli reacts badly (or justifiably, depends how you look at it) to it?

That's what I fear as well. And I reckon opposition fans in the Premier League will likely do the same...

You'll find particularly West Yorkshire to be one of the most intigrated areas in the country outside London, one of the few benefits of our 'dark satanic mills' heritage - I should know since I've lived there all my life.

Well, I missed the game last night as I was travelling back home from holidays but I'm glad to see that Mario managed to make a big impact in his debut, hopefully he's not injured and will keep it up, he has the means as I think he's possibly the purest Italian talent in the last ten years, even more than Cassano. He just has to stay calm and not let the winding up get to him, that's what gave him a bad reputation in Italy. But, he's also 20 and I reckon it's somehow justifiable for someone as young as him to still react immaturely to being provoked and such. What he should really keep himself from doing is to do the wind up himself like he did at times in Italy, especially with opposition fans.

What was worse imo was the players, who deliberately kicked him more than they had any other City player & often got away with it, even getting him booked for fuck all. I can see that happening in the PL, especially with the usual rag/scouse ref favouritism.

I assumed they were booing him for standing up to one of their players almost immediatley after coming on when he appeared to me to be head butted.

Showed some great touches and i think he will be awesome for us especially when he gets a great reception and adored by the fans at Eastlands. He hasn't had any fan adoration in his life yet only rascist abuse in Italy.

I think we've found the new Drogba!

Yeah, that too. In Italy he wasn't kicked more than the other players, but he still had a habit of moaning with refs, that is going to be dangerous for him in the PL, he's likely to get loads of yellow cards for that, and possibly even reds if he was already booked for a silly foul (which he at times does). As Mancini said he has to work on this.

We must have one of the tallest squads in the league now (Statto's pull yer fingers out). Ade stood out last season for being a giant but just look at them all now. Beasts, the lot of em! Apart from AJ & Tevez ;-)

One of the benefits of having tevez as a captain is that it will give Mario an example (through his actions) of how to handle that kind of treatment though, he's going to get what Tevez had most of last season.

I think Mancini was mentally scarred for life by his experiences with Stoke & Everton. It was Hughes' biggest failling imo, too many dwarves which gave us a weakness defensively & made us easier to stop in attack. Now if we can just learn to not be completely shit at crossing the ball we can try the unheard of idea of scoring a goal with the head from open play occasionally....

I was trying to be a bit cynical I suppose. To me people seem to forget that there is examples of racism in UK(a lot of Europe IMO).Here where I am in Spain we get BBC Look North which covers the Yorkshire region and this weekend I think the police have stopped a march from the EDL(English defence League)because they think it may lead to some conflict.Although I would say that the vast majority of English people find racism abhorent, but there are still pockets of it.So when people say Mario isn't going to suffer the kind of abuse he did in Italy,I'm not so sure myself.I'd be suprised if it happens at COMs but not when we are away. There are still a few idiots eveywhere.

No way nowadays mate. You can mug old grannies for fun, pee in the street and have a good old punch-up. But one racist word and the whole PC establishment comes crashing around you and gets you in court quicker than you can say Justin Fashanu.

I dont think Mario will have a problem in the stadia.

Yeah theres not a chance of him getting "racially" abused because the english fans don't know him enough to single him out, he will get a shit load of abuse for being a city player though. There isnt a squad in the prem that doesnt have black players. It would make no sense for any fans to start racist chants. You might get a lone voice somewhere shouting something like that but nothing he will hear let alone take personally seen as half our squad are black.
