Lawro has spoken

A 1-1 draw - a sure sign that he actually expects defeat and hopes to get away without a hiding:

MONDAY

Manchester City v Liverpool (2000 BST)

City did not really play with a centre forward in the goalless draw at Tottenham last weekend, which was strange. They had Carlos Tevez up front, with David Silva playing off him, but it did not work because Tevez likes to roam all over the pitch. City need to address that but manager Roberto Mancini probably won't know his best team yet. Will new signings James Milner and Mario Balotelli be involved against Liverpool? If so, how will they fit in?

When Roy Hodgson was in charge of Fulham, they were extremely hard to get the better off whenever they played away from home. I think Hodgson will continue that trend at Liverpool. This has got draw written all over it.

Prediction: 1-1

i think they will score against us but we will be too strong for them over the 90 minutes and it will end either 3-1 or 3-2 to city.

(as long as jo doesnt come on, if he comes on at any point then we lose 17-3)

so he lost less than half. that is a top record for Fulham.

bit of a twat is lawro. Now if he had said "When Roy Hodgson was in charge of Fulham, they were extremely hard to get the better of whenever they played away to Manchester City" he would have a point. Hopefully all that is behind us.

Going for a goalless draw myself. Either that or 1-0 to us.

i would have though he'd be better going for a 0-0. As 1-1 suggests that someone is going to score first.

If City score first, they will have to come out in search of a goal = death.
If Pool score first, City will react like they did last season on going down and i cant see the Scouce living with that. so = death

After seeing Balotelli I'm much more optimistic we can win this so long as we don't make any stupid defensive mistakes. The attack suddenly started to look very dangerous when he came on.

Wouldn't like to guess a score though because I also think whhchever side scores first will most likely win.

Dont forget we may also see Milner for this one... just on the basis he needs no settling into prem time.

Id like City to keep another clean sheet, however not really at the expense of a win. I'm not so worried about Pool scoring first if it is early enough in the game, as i think that City tend a lot to start slowly and cautiously, but when stung we kind of wake up and go bananas. That happened quite a lot last season and there were few teams that could cope with it then.. now i think it would just awaken the monster..

I also think this will be a draw, Mancini still plays far too cautiously.

I don't think we will play cautiously I think it's more an away thing because we've been hopeless away for a few years. And my own opinion is that he is trying to sure things up away from home ie not get beat first then worry about the win

I was there, and it was dreadful. Quite confident about this one though for some reason. 3-1

that game was dreadful, but it was also not too long after the Everton debacle and the struggles against Stoke, you got the feeling Mancini was in a bit of shock and tbh i remember at the time being glad we got out of it. showing at least we could match Liverpool at that time.
Mancini is still not in the clear in terms of his tactics but we certainly are not in the same situation we were then and i dont see any bearing on that game for this one.

Had a quick look on a scouce forum and the majority are thinking they will start slowly and cautiously and a lot are simply hoping to get out of it with a draw.

if Mancini goes for it just a little bit more than we have seen so far, they could be there for the taking.

Last seasons home game was at a time when neither team could afford to lose so it was a borfest of cautious shite. With it being our first home game i'm going for a win especially as they are without Cole.
Balotelli......that's a brilliant finish.

If we score more goals than them, we will win. But I think if they score more than us, they might win.....However if we score the same amount I'm sure it will be a draw! ...... They call me the prediction king!
