It'd cause all sorts of problems if he changed his mind now, but originally I think it should've gone to Kompany. Solid and consistent at the back and oozes class. Definitely would've been my choice

I figure Tevez was made captain due to his work rate all over the pitch as a 'lead by example' from Bobby ManC.

Just wondering how many would have moaned if he had given it to someone defensive minded?

I agree.
Kompany not only leads by example but you can see him ordering people about and telling the players what to do. More so than Kolo and Tevez. And for someone who's 24 he's got a wise head on his shoulders. I think everyone could see that he was captain material from day one.
De Jong as vice skipper definitely as he might not play every match.

The only thing that worries me slightly is that when players are given that extra responsibility to be captain, sometimes it effects their form. I don't think that is the case with Kompany though and I think he would thrive on it.

Gone for Tevez, as you can't take it off him now. However, it should always be a centre half or midfielder, so I'd have gone for Kompany or Yaya at the start of the season

Tevez. It wouldn't help at all if you took it away now. It would probably cause a few problems...

Without doubt...KOMPANY...I think he has all the qualities needed and would be a very able leader on and off the field.
Captain is a bigger role than just on the pitch, he has to lead in the dressing room. I don't think Tevez has those qualities.
If kompany was captain, then De Jong would be my Vice Captain.

Kompany is too hot headed and immature as a footballer to be our captain at his age and at this time.
Yaya Toure too new.
Kolo Toure doesn't inspire me as a captain and hinders him.
Barry same as Kolo Toure in that he wouldn't inspire me as captain, too nice.
Tevez, i never beleive in giving your best player the captaincy.

For me it would be De Jong.

I think Barry is experienced enough and calm and assertive enough to be captain. And he's English so what would the papers write about that?

Kolo - I am a strong believer that the skipper should always be able to view the full pitch, have a vast experience and have been at the club a while.

I think we will see the best of Kolo alongside Kompany plus Kolo has a massive amount of experience where we want to be.

Problem with Kompany is that before season started he wouldnt have been guaranteed a game, now with season started he has been excellent so seems obvious but at start when mancini picking it tevez would of been only player guaranteed to start. SIo i can seeit from mancinis poin of view, id rather kompany concentrated on being a top class defender he can worry about captaining when hes mastered that for a few years in my opinion.
derby day the scores were level,
then the goat was fed by neville,
silly boy should know for sure,
feed the goat and he will score!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kompany for me. He also seems the most vocal at the back at the moment as well.

I voted Kompany, but it should have been done at the start of the season. Next season for sure, perfect choice. Tevez will see having the armband took off him as a demotion I feel, and we want him in his best frame of mind.
And come on, Tevez would look best lifting a trophy at wembley in front of a load of rags innit?

You have got to be having a laugh? Have you ever heard an interview with him. Immature is just about last thing that comes to my head. Sounds like one of the VERY few footballers whose company I'd actually enjoy in real life.

De Jong will not be regular on this side in the future so therefore pointless appointment.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

Strange how all of us can see things so differently eh?

I see De Jong as an absolute fixture in the team for years to come - I doubt I'm the only one.

no you're not the only one.....Niall Quims Disco Knickers has never really rated him though so not surprising that he posted that. Nigel is not on a Lahm level in his estimations but he has never been keen

That said, I do totally agree with Antti in his disagreeing entirely with the man (who as previously posted out) is probably not Georgian and certainly no genius ;-) re Kompany....barmy comment

The only think "immature" re VK is an occasional (and I mean occasional) rash lunge at an opponent. In every other way he's one of the most mature footballers/football characters i have ever seen

Honestly, he offers absolutely nothing with the ball. He is a great tackler and good at getting opposition midfield off the balance, that is without a doubt. However his inability to do anything with the ball always makes all the good he does pointless.

I'm not saying he is a poor player. Far from it. But if we are looking for "world domination" or whatever the plan was, we need player like Yaya in his place who can both defend AND do stuff with the ball.

But yeah, I can full well see why people rate him and I do enjoy watching his tackling very much.

Still haven't forgiven for the second half of The 3-4 Derby last season though. He was absolutely abysmal and let Darren fucking Fletcher run the show. Unforgivable.
