Ah!
32 yr old attacking midfielder.
Seems to have won everything there is in Egyptian football and is an ex-Africian player of the year.
Very strange signing and then we loan him out immediately to Stromsgodet in Norway.
I wonder! Is there oil under them there hills :)

Just for those who may have no fucking idea what you're on about, from the OS:

Manchester City has signed 18-year-old Ghanaian Mohammed Abu, who will now go on loan to Norwegian side Stromsgodset until the end of June 2011.
A dynamic, tough-tackling midfielder, Abu recently trained at the Academy and played for the Elite Development side in three pre-season games. He was spotted by the club's recruitment network playing for Sporting Club Accra, having been developed by their Right To Dream academy.

Stromsgodset's sporting director is former Norway and Sheffield United striker Jostein Flo, and Abu will now play for the Norwegian Premier League club in the town of Drammen, just outside Olso.

People who saw him in the ressies were impressed.

I think he might even have trained at Carrington a couple of times recently.

Abu's new club is about 30 min drive from Oslo. I will follow him during his stay here.

Sorry if this has already been posted, but more news from Norway. Uwe Rösler got a job as a manager in the Norwegian top division this week for Molde. The club is in a fight against relegation having started the season hoping for top four. It's Rösler's third club as a manager. Norwegian media also states that he and his family will move to Manchester later this autumn. Make of it what you want.

Interesting that we sign an 18 year old who'd be eligible to count as home grown in 3 years but then loan him out. But then that would be a work permit thing I suppose.

Does a player have to be developed in England or just owned by an English club for the 3 years? If they have to be in England, the work permit regs will make it difficult for any non-eu players to come here

I believe ... could be completely wrong ... but I believe that they must be 'owned' by an English club for that period.

Got to admit I like these types of signings. I still hope in the years to come that we can bring youngsters through the Academy to be regulars in the first team. Admittedly Abu is already at an advanced stage but these signings are the future, especially under all the new rules being implemented. Well done City

As far as I have understood, City had problems with his work permit, but he got one in Norway. The press here also talk about a more formalised and permanent deal between the clubs when this issue is raised again in the future. Former Sheff. Utd striker Jostein Flo is their football director.

im friends with this kid on FB...he's a huge Scouse fan. the day we played them he posted a "Come on Liverpool" status update. Apparently, Gerrard is his hero.

now im tracking him like he's the enemy. If you were a kid who just signed up to play for City, why would you big up Liverpool in public like that?

On. My. Tits.

cheers

Maybe he got face raped?

Maybe he was doing it for a laugh/wind-up?

Maybe he was doing it for a dare?

Maybe he was doing it because he genuinely doesn't give a shit and wanted Liverpool to win?

Maybe a 40+ year old man shouldn't give a shit what a Slovakian child is posting on his Facebook status updates?
