Seeing Jo in there just makes me shake my fucking head.......I just cannto fathom it out what Mancini sees in him to justify including him on the squad.

No. Balotelli just turned 20 so he won't count this season or next. We can't be at all certain about Michael Johnson, so there's 1-2 slots unaccounted for.

I'm not entirely clear on the transfer situation now. Free agents can sign at any time outside of the transfer windows. Would non registered players be counted as free agents for the purpose of that rule?

With Caicedo gone it appears that Etuhu and Logan are the guys left fighting for slots.

From the premier league site:

"Clubs do not have to name a full squad of 25 if they do not have that many contracted players and in this instance they may add free agents outside the transfer window. However if they have 25 eligible contracted players, they must be named."

With all the drama of "oh how are they going to fit them in the 25 man thing" we ended up with a 23 man squad LOL

End of the day mate, no-one made a proper offer to buy or take him on loan.

To the outside world it is clear to me...and I'm pretty sure also clear to City....and most importantly; Jo himself, that Jo is perceived as damaged goods as a professional footballer.

He has "flopped" to a greater or lesser extent at City, then twice at Everton and then at Galatasaray (or wherever it was).

We have his wage on our payroll whether we like it or not. No-one has offered to take that burden off our hands and we have less than the full complement of 25 players so it would be barmy to omit him. Mancini either obviously sees something in him and/or recognises that the only way we can really get rid is by cajoling him back into something resembling a professional footballer, getting him in the shop window as Jo Mk II (new and improved) and then either we have a player who is useful to us or one we can actually get rid of.

I appreciate the differing current views on Jo but I actually see something in him on current evidence. He's looked one of the players who, picking the ball up deep and going at defences (from a more central position) looks quite a threat. Yes, he then falls over, smiles, claps and fluffs a shot but he does have "something".....I think......maybe

I don't know what's yr problem with Jo ? Yes, he was very bad when he first joined us and he was rightfuly loaned out and is now back
and it seems that he benefited from that period (somehow!).
From what I've seen of him in the pre-season and the couple of matches he played so far, he's been trying hard, has a different attitude and scored a couple of goals (would've scored the sitter that Tevez missed !!). So I don't see the problem in him being our
4th or 5th choice striker.
As for what Mancini sees in him, well he's the experienced manager and knows a lot more about football than anyone on this forum ! So I trust Bobby's judgment.

Would love to see more of Guidetti this season...am I right in saying he is one of the more promising youngsters?

so the OS has pimped. i don't really know the reserve squad but some on here -- was it Dougie and Kippax? i can't recall -- spoke pretty highly of him this summer.

What was the comparison? Swedish Wayne Rooney?

We had a Scandanavian guy keeping us updated while he was on loan, I seem to remember, looks like he impresses pretty much everyone he works with so far.

Yeah, he impressed the few games he played in Sweden, but the Swedish league is really below par. The Championship is easily better.

Some good info on the City squad and rules compiled by Chris Nield.

Pretty good read if you are not sure how it works.
