Tuesdays Rag Post Of The Day

RAG1: For me it doesn't really matter. Not every club is blessed with good directors who build sustained success plus that one manager/ group of managers who takes them to the next level, in their past. So if a money man comes along, buys a club and is able to give a club both right now, rather than make them indebted ala Liverpool & United or collapse ala Pompey, I don't see why anyone should complain. It's as if people want success to only be monopolized by clubs with a good past in terms of running and success.

RAG2: For me it's not to do with "complaining". Sugar-daddies exist and have always been attracted to having a football club as their prestige toy, albeit now and in recent past the trend has become much stronger. It's part of the football world: I accept that and I'm happy for my own club to keep on keeping on in trying to compete with it all.

The point for me is that trophies earnt via sugar-daddy investment are worth much less than trophies won by clubs who've done it on their own backs. In other words, for me there's a big element of hollow triumph involved in any success bought by a sugar-daddy.

oooh yes - I live in Berkshire so I am surrounded - one of my favourite hobbies is to wind the bastards up - they are very worried but in denial - I cannot wait for us to start to win things

Thats news to me , do they only give out plastic replicas then if you've invested over a certain amount of money in the team ?

Earn't? If anything, we City fans have earn't it after the many years of pain, stress and mismanagement.

To be fair money has never bought anyone their spot on the top. Real Madrid have spent hundreds of millions in the past decade and still never found a player who came anywhere close the Messi/Iniesta/Xavi's that Barca nurtured for free. Chelsea did the same and still haven't been able to win the champions league with it.
No amount of money will ever win you the top spot in your sport, you can buy your way onto the top table sure but proper management, effort and talent from the players are the only thing that'll make you the top dog.

Turn it around: No one has reach the top spot without money either, at least not in the modern game.
I.e. it's a combination of serious money and the things you mentioned.

You're right, what I mean is I don't believe in people who say you can buy success. If you make it to the very top you'll have had to have earned it, money alone can only bring you so far.
